I figure some anime fans on Board 8 might find her choices/opinions interesting. She technically started last summer when there was nothing to watch so she decided to try my One Piece DVDs. She really liked it and got to Fishman Island before fall shows started. This summer she continued watching and truly fell in love with it. She finished the series, started rewatching immediately and is now at Impel Down, started reading the manga and is also at Impel Down there. She even started reading fanfic and the subreddit both of which she doesn't do for anything else. Its crazy. For her birthday in August I got her a Zoro cosplay hoodie that she loves and she is planning to get a One Piece tattoo this month. Her favorite characters: Zoro >> Chopper > Franky > Robin > Law > Corazon > Usopp > Smoker > Katakuri > Sanji > Brooke > Luffy > Nami. The normal shonen trope about the main character being an idiot really annoys her for Luffy, but she still likes all the main characters. Not sure where Jimbe ranks. So yeah this was her start. Since then she has watched: Aggretsuko Full Metal Alchemist (didn't finish) Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior (B8 suggestion) Fruits Basket Overlord Hanasakeru Seishounen The Devil is a Part-Timer! I brought up Carole & Tuesday but not sure if she is going to watch it yet. Plus the death metal singing red panda is just hilarious. Instant hit with us and cannot wait for season 3! Her favorite character is definitely Retsuko (mine is Fenneko). We started with the original and she got through where they introduce their made up big bad at which point she said it was to weird so we switched to Brotherhood. Overall she liked it more but as the plot got more...philosophical she got less into it. Mostly just thought it was weird. The humor also just didn't hit for her most of the time. She never liked Ed and Al so never got into them. She also mostly thought Mustang was a jerk and by the time they really make him a full hero she liked him but never loved him (He's my favorite character so that saddened me). She also was really not happy with them ~~killing Hughes.~~ She has seen so few characters with happy families so she didn't like that getting ruined. She finished the series mostly because she likes to finish what she starts unless it gets bad. She didn't really get into the final battle and felt the ending was more bitter than sweet. Overall FMA:B was a big "meh" for her. One exception. She LOVED Scar from the moment he showed up and loved all his stuff. Though she wishes we found out his real name. Really everything with the Ishvallens were her favorite parts. I'll have her take a look at a lot of these and see if any of them catch her interest. I do think she would like Fairy Tail and Tiger & Bunny so those are already in my short list to try some day. She isnt big on sci-fi most of the time so Trigun and Bebop would take some convincing but you never know. Unlike me she isnt big on sports/competition based stuff so I'm not sure she would be interested in Chihayafuru. Death Note is a complete no go. If she dislikes space things because 'it's sci-fi' then she won't like either of those titles. TTGL is going to run into a lot of the same "this is weird" plot problems of FMA I think.
