This. They picked the English title "When They Cry" over "When the ___ Cry" back when Higurashi was the only one and now they're kind of stuck with it.

I mean, it sounded terrible in Higurashi too. There's a line in Episode 4 that goes something like

"The sound of the cicadas crying still haunts me to this day. I wrote a book about the experience... It's called 'Higurashi when they cry.'"

yeah I don't know why they chose to go with "When They Cry" way back when. should have just kept "When the Cicada Cry" and "When the Seacats Cry." they sound so much better and also differentiate better, while still being clear that they are related.

I guess they thought western audiences were too stupid to understand.

anyway, probably won't get this until the entire story is complete or at least the first four episodes. that's assuming ryuukishi is still doing the 4/4 structure.

I imagine they didn't have to stick with "When they cry" but they did. I actaully never noticed that the Steam Umineko releases were called "Umineko When They Cry" until now.

Its 4 for "When They Cry 5"

There could still be another 4 Episodes for "When They Cry 6", since Ryuukishi makes the first and second half of each different numbers.

It could also just as easily not, and end at 4.

We just don't know, but really nothing is confirmed either way is what I'm saying.
