How's it going, friends? I'm doing a last minute pho date tonight (we just kinda want to see each other). Tomorrow is my performance review at work. And this Saturday is another date night at a water lantern festival.

I just ordered a neck massager! Its one of those weird ones with loops to put your arms through, but the ratings for it are really high.

I just ordered some things on Amazon too. Nothing interesting. Just some toiletries, a gift for my sister (the purse hook that latches onto the table at restaurants because I noticed she was setting her purse behind her on the chair), and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Anywho, I'm prepping for the water lantern festival. I wrote down a couple of the food vendors I want to try.


Some of them didn't have an official website or anything, so I couldn't check their menu beforehand. That is always a bummer.

It's an event where you decorate a lantern and then release it on a lake with other lanterns! The organizers collect all the lanterns afterwards (the candles are LED and have tracking in them). The available food and vendors are dependent on your area.

It was! We got there a bit late, had to park far, and then find a spot in the grass by the lake. There was duck poo in a lot of spaces.
D:

But we managed to find a spot. The ticket came with a blanket to lay on the grass. We left our stuff unattended (the spot next to ours was also unattended) and went to get food. I had bought some glow stick bracelet thingies, but they weren't in the gift bag, so I had to go get them.

My date saw me walk towards her with it, and she said, "Oh, what's this?" and grabbed at it. She snapped them... while it was still light out. Luckily, they last a while, so they were still glowing later at night.

Getting food took FOREVER. When we finally got it and got back to our spot, we had to start decorating because otherwise we'd be doing it in the dark.

There was a weird part where people go up on stage to tell stories. It was really hippie. Lots of stories about learning to let go and "move forward."

When night hit and it was time to launch, my date wanted a balloon (it had LED lights wrapped around it), so I went to buy one. I also got some light-up cat ears. The line for that was pretty long too. When I got back, I told her not to turn around and to close her eyes. I put the cat ears on her and gave her the balloon. She wasn't sure what was on head head, but I used the selfie camera on my phone to show her. She loved it.

The dropping the lanterns into the water was a total ****show, if I'm going to be honest. People are just there FOREVER. Like they launched it already 10 minutes ago, but they're still sitting there filming. Their lantern is way down the lake at that point! I'm just trying to get near the lake to send my lantern off. I was ready to throw my lantern in there like a frisbee.

But obviously, I didn't say anything and just waited. We dropped ours in, recorded for like 30 seconds, and then went back (she said she was getting dizzy from trying to follow her lantern). You could get a way better view up towards the hilly-entrance to the park (because you aren't shoulder-to-shoulder with dozens of people). We watched for a little while long and then once a lot of the lanterns had reached the end (there's a buoy line to prevent the lanterns from going too far away), we left.

Anywho, I actually have to clean today too. LET'S GET TO IT.

There was a big accident on the road in front of my work. The car apparently flipped twice. It landed on its top. I only heard the loud booms (like 2 or 3). Everyone in our office and the neighboring offices went to look. Emergency response came really fast. Like less than 5 minutes. Man, it looked brutal. I hope the lady is okay.

OKAY, GUYS. I'll try to tone down the gushing, because I know I get very vomit-inducing when I'm like this.

Anywho, I'm home. THINGS ON THE AGENDA:

Power might go out for a few days because of some electric company thing in California. They're trying to prevent wildfires. I gotta wash some clothes, charge all my electronics, and get ice to chill my food. The power outage might last up to 5 days (or more given how awful people are at scheduling).

I'm looking for a new car. Unfortunately, I don't know much about cars. I just know I want a hybrid because gas is freakin $4.50 per gallon. GOOD LORD. WHEN IS IT GOING DOWN?! PLEASE, I WON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT $3.50 PER GALLON ANYMORE. Everyone is telling me to get a Japanese hybrid. I don't even know what that means, aside from very obvious names like Toyota. But I don't want a Prius. I just want a very standard-looking sedan.

I'm also waiting for my raise at work. Not sure how much the boss man is willing to give me, but apparently, I asked for too much. He said he'd get back to me with a figure.

And lastly, I am trying to play through Fire Emblem: 3 Houses, so I can play other stuff after (namely Sonic Chao Battle 2).

School has been cancelled at a lot of places because of the pending power outage. My workplace is out of the outage zone, so we're still working.

I have a roller skating date later tonight. It shouldn't be affected by the power outage, maybe? I told her we can skate with flashlights.

Rollerskating date didn't pan out. The rink was closed due to the power shutdown by PG&E.
