in 3 of the last 4 games we took leads into the 8th inning. Lost all of them. We honestly havent been playing much more poorly than in the 20 games before then. Just all of a sudden forgot how to close out games. Unfortunate end.

The Brewers didn't lose the game on that call, though. They lost the game on a subsequent hit and error.

Kinda like how Bartman didn't actually lose it for the Cubs, the entire team spontaneously self destructing afterwards is what lost it.

(And yes, he would've caught the ball, we know)

Counsell has become too reliant on Hader. When hes on hes great, but Hader has been off a this year. Hes too easy to predict, since hes nothing but fastball after fastball. He needs to develop a good secondary pitch to keep batters guessing.

As soon as Hader came into the game I knew it was going to be a problem. They should have given an extra inning to Suter, and pushed everything back. If Haders in in the 9th, give him a short leash and call on Jordan Lyles to finish it out.

At least Hader owned it though, and didnt blame everyone but himself like Jeffress in the NLCS last year

I thought the same thing. Give Suter 2 innings, which would push everyone back 1 and give Hader the 9th. Oh well. At least we put up a decent effort that showcased some of the reasons why we did belong. As much as I love Hader when he's on, sometimes I wish he wasnt on the team.

That's still way too expensive.

Even the cost of games aside, I did a kind of poor job of actually going to games this year. Just was too lazy to select any. I went to the Mets at Phillies back in April and the Brewers at Mets in May. That was it this season.

I think we really need Knebel back, and can hopefully resign Drew. You cant rely on just Hader because hes a one pitch guy, and hes not consistent anymore now that hes been figured out. Just dont bring back Jeffress.

It's unbelievable to me that two out of the likely only three Astros games in the ALDS are on during the daytime on weekdays. I mean, it's only the best team in baseball, the overwhelming favorite to win the world series, filled with well known future hall of fame players, on their way to becoming a modern dynasty. Who wants to watch that?

Baseball is the most stupidly managed sport by far.

Maybe, but the Yankees have the Twins, which is technically a smaller market than the Rays (though the Rays have a smaller fanbase). I guess the baseball executives love to ride the Yankees's cock for those TV ratings, so that's why the Yankees get the primetime slot in every single game except for Game 5 (which goes to Rays/Astros).

It would require the perfect match-up of possible ALDS games to prevent the Yankees from getting the primetime slot in more than one game in a single series. Here's a hypothetical scenario of 2 different ALDS series:

Royals/Yankees
Astros/Red Sox

Would the Yankees even be favored to get a primetime slot that case as they're bogged down by the small market Royals while the Astros and Red Sox are both large markets.

I mean the REAL weak series here is pretty obviously St Louis/Atlanta.

Or you could do a sensible thing and switch back and forth as to who gets stuck with the dumbass day game. Or, god forbid, have games on at the same time on different networks like the NBA/NHL do and people can just pick.

Lmfao you have to be trolling. The Astros have had one title and are unlikely to gain another (imo). In the unlikely event they beat the Yankees in the alcs, are you considering 2 championships in 4 years a "dynasty"??

The Astros are +150 to win the world series right now. The Yankees are second at +375. Vegas considers it more than twice as likely that the Astros will win than the Yankees.

But you know what, the Yankees are the Yankees. They get prime time, I get it.

My biggest complaint is like, on a day when all four series are going, you're really going to give the Astros the afternoon slot, even over a garbage small-market series featuring go-nowhere teams that nobody cares about like Cardinals/Braves? That's just a joke.

Wow go fuck yourself dude. Please remember that this Yankees team didn't exist AT ALL this season which is why we are currently annihilating a 100+ win team. Our current lineup is arguably the greatest of all time. The bullpen is stellar. And our starting pitching is at worst above average.

11-1 is my prediction.

I don't think they'll be able to beat Cole. Dude looks unstoppable right now. I can see them squeezing out a few runs against Verlander and Greinke. But really the key is going to be just having good at bats. Even if all they can muster against these guys is a couple runs, they need to at least ensure they're not pitching more than 6 innings.
