If Zach Davies doesn't go 7 1/3 innings tonight, the Brewers will not have a single pitcher that is even ERA eligible this season. First time in franchise history that would happen. How in the world are we in the playoffs without even one ace? Just looking at our roster versus some of the other teams in the playoffs, the only way we can make it far again in the playoffs this year is if we can keep on riding this momentum we are on. Baseball is a game of streaks. Keep staying hot and it can carry us through some of our deficiencies.

Also, Cubs are playing meaningful baseball on the final weekend. :)

They could have a big say in who wins the NL Central here. 1 game difference with 3 left to play. Gotta love the drama.

Yeah, I was noticing that too. A lot of their wins tend to be close, and then they just get blown out.

Having a 27-16 record in one run ballgames helps, which I thought was impressive until I saw San Francisco is 38-16 in one run ballgames. Holy smokes!

With that being said, the Brewers have actually scored a few more runs this year than the Cardinals have....the Cardinals have just given up 100 fewer, lol. Which is crazy to think the Brewers have given up 100 more runs this season than them, with equivalent runs scored, and are just 1 game back.

The end of last season really stung for Cubs fans which is why I think most are okay with giving the division to the Cards. Of course if St Louis somehow blows this we also wont be at upset that they get to experience what we did last year. Cards are still enemy #1.

But the big thing is just how many injuries there have been this month. Not worth seeing another player go down just to maybe stick it to the Cards.

Plus with how the team is playing this month they would probably get swept anyway. At least this way the Cards dont get to be as smug about it.

I actually don't fault the Cubs for resting some guys. I'm not sure why Madden was so defensive about it in that article unless he was just anticipating some future grumblings. I just want them to compete, no matter who's on the field, and it sounds like Madden is promising that, at least in the article. Though the fact that they just got swept by the Pirates shows that the players have probably already mailed it in emotionally, regardless of what Madden said.

Paxton got pulled after one inning due to potential injury. Fuck injuries. They're ruining this goddamn sport. And it's not even just a Yankees issue. The potential NL MVP missed most of the month and isn't going to be able to help his team in the playoffs. The Angels are finishing the year with a lot of their guys done for the season, including Trout and Ohtani.

I know for the most part nothing can be done about this shit. But man does it put a damper on something that's normally so fun to watch and be a part of.

awesome final game for the mets with dom smith, with his first AB in 2 months, hits an 11th inning 3 run walk off home run (while down 2). so that was a cool moment.

ultimately its just a reminder about how resilient and fun the 2019 mets were, how talented so many guys on the roster were, how many guys had incredible individual seasons, how many come from behind team wins they had that does not end in a playoff spot. and how disappointing that despite all the amazing stuff they had going for them, that if the FO couldnt make the minorest of adjustments from where this team was to turn this into a playoff team, then they will not be able to ever turn anything into a playoff team.

(by the way, this is the first time in mets history they had a walkoff home run on the last game of the regular season)

here was an in-personof gary's call. he's the best

https://twitter.com/SNYtv/status/1178453507378159616

I also will say I love SNY's production values. They , not just the mets broadcasters, do such a great job making you feel an intimate connection with the team. It's like you're watching a season of your favorite TV show and it was the season finale, and though it had a bittersweet ending, maybe it didnt end well, you still watched all the episodes and felt a connection to the characters and the final end credit sequence was sad, because they showed a nice montage of all the feel-good moments of the season over a sad song.

They do such a great job with that personal connection. It's a huge reason why I watch all the games, all the seasons even through heartbreak, bad seasons, and whatever else. They're amazing. It's a full-fledged production done well. This is something football lacks since there's no local TV broadcast, and I can't really speak for other baseball teams, or basketball or hockey local broadcasts, I don't know how many do something like this. But the fact you have a local broadcast means you CAN have a dedicated program for your team and you CAN get creative and personal with it.

watching a mets game feels like more than just watching a baseball game. it really is like watching a fun TV show, even for the non-baseball parts

It might actually be better for the Yankees that they didn't get the #1 seed in the AL, unless the Twins have actually learned how to beat the Yankees in the postseason.

(I'd pick Oakland over them)

If I remotely trusted the Twins to beat the Yankees for once I'd think similarly.

I think the Twins *should* beat the Yankees if they play to their potential.

But yeah this is a situation where I'll never pick one team over the other until that one team actually wins one.

The Astros are the best team in baseball so yeah.

I just don't see the Yankees as a threat to them in a potential ALCS and think it'd be over in 5.

I could see Oakland potentially pushing them to 5 in the ALDS, and that being the only elimination game they face in the playoffs, assuming Oakland beats the Rays first.
