the overall poverty rates and median household incomes were basically flat, but our child poverty rate increased about 2 percentage points.
When I dug into the data more, this was entirely driven by a 10 percentage point increase in the black child poverty rate. It went from 35% last year to 45 % this year. That's fuckin sad man. Did the % increase because people with the means to leave are moving elsewhere, or did the absolute number in poverty increase?

I assume its a geographical issue, since the black population in Arkansas is less urbanized than most other states and most of the economic growth and opportunities are in the Northwest part of the state, which has a very small black population. Kind of a continuation of the uneven economic recovery in general
