Early sex ed was in grade 1. I remember we learned about the differences between boys and girls, and the concept that those parts are private and not for anyone but yourself to touch at that age. I think that was it. Nothing else was covered in grade 2 and 3.

From grade 4 to grade 10, there was progressively increasing sex ed. We learned the basics of reproduction from grades 4 to 8. Grade 9 and 10 was mostly focused on being safe and ensuring consent.

I would be deeply worried about anyone who didn't get taught this in school.

Sex Ed was a unit of every health and PE class, which was taken pretty much every year. So between grades 3 and 12 I had age-appropriate sex ed several times.

In college you can go to special events that deal with sex education, but theyre voluntary. Usually you get free condoms and dental dams and lubricants if you go.

STI/STD testing is cheap/free at my university, for whatever thats worth

Not exactly. We had a film that warned us against the perils of STDs, while being careful to avoid the specifics of how you might actually go about catching one. The film also gave us kids the impression that the most obvious symptom of an STD was a strange kind of animated squiggle that pinpointed you in a crowd.

We had sex ed starting in 2nd grade and they went into pretty clear detail about internal anatomy and how to make babby, but that's about it. And for a private Christian school, they surprisingly didn't do the "sex is evil except missionary position between a married couple" thing.

They more or less repeated this class again every year through 6th grade.

Our high school biology teacher talked about sex and it was really weird. He kept saying some like "if you orgasm, you've had sex", which of course led to questions about does that include masturbation (yes), which led to even more wacky questions, including a few that confused even the teacher (something about using the bathtub faucet).

Not really. Nothing more than the standard stuff in science class.

For some reason though my freshman year a local doctor came in and we had a lecture and then a Q&A.

One boy said "Dr. Russell, can I get a cow pregnant?"

Dr. Russell, knowing Todd's sense of humor rolled his eyes and said"No, Todd, you can't get a cow pregnant."

Todd sat down and said "Whew, that is good to know."

Early sex ed was 4th or 5th grade, but it was mostly the "separate the boys and girls into different classrooms and talk about genitals" sort of sex ed.

Had actual, legitimate, let's talk about sex and STDs and pregnancy sex ed in 10th or 11th grade, by which point it was almost entirely useless, because nearly all of us already knew most of what they were teaching at that point, and at least some of the girls in our class had already been pregnant.

I think it was jr high. We had a health class that had a section about reproduction and a little about birth control. But no, we didn't have an in depth sex ed course.

More than one answer applies to me, so I thought maybe the question meant when was the first time I had sex education. My first time was in 4th grade, so it would be elementary school. After that, I had it every year in school up to 9th grade, which was high school.

In 10th grade, most of us had biology for science classes, where we did go over the reproductive system. I started out as a biomedical sciences major in university, so I had several biology classes, and some of them covered the reproductive system and STDs, too. I'm not sure if these count as sex education.

I had a 1/2 assed version.

They refused to talk about anything people would actually want to know, the actual sex part, they showed a video or a women giving birth, some medical diagrams, talked about STDs, then basically said you shouldn't have sex until you're 18+.

Ill never forget that in 5th grade a boy asked the teacher if two men could have a baby together and he obviously meant biologically, but in some weird attempt to remain politically correct I guess our teacher responded with a simple Yes

It's weird to me that sex ed seems to be a one- or two-time thing in parts of the world. Is that an American thing?

Here, when I was going through it, it was a yearly thing from Grade 4 to Grade 10, with each year adding more info.

Depends on the school and area. Some places only did it once, and others did it multiple times. Also, some schools did it at different times. Meaning if you swapped schools, you could have it multiple times (even if each school only talked about it once), or possibly miss out completely. But they normally try to talk about it a few times throughout the school year...

We has sex ed in year 3 of primary school. It was only the basics and the actual more detailed one came in year 7 of secondary school if I recall right. I specifically recall the science teacher putting a condom on a banana and we get to do the same. Also the cheesy acted sex ed videos.

My science teacher taught us sex ed, lol...I just remember the whole class laughing. She had the pestle and mortar and started demonstrating with it. We were laughing, and she would stare at the back of the wall while saying, "shhh, this isn't funny." She never looked at us in the face when she faced us, about anything. Just always lock on to something on the back wall, and just teach us science.

Started sex ed in 5th grade and that year's class comes with a silly little story about four immature friends doing our best not to get kicked out.

Sex ed that year had the two genders separated so there was no one but boys in my class. Since we got to sit wherever we wanted, I went to a table with three of my friends. One of these friends will be called K for this story. He's going to be important. Also, one of the two teachers in the class was named Mr. N. Mr. N was known for having an extremely short temper and let all of the guys know if he catches or hears any of us laughing, we're getting thrown out of the class immediately.

Lights go off and the sex ed tape begins playing. The video was mainly about keeping good hygiene and explaining certain body changes some of us were going through at the time. Nothing out of the ordinary but the narrator had this really monotone yet proper voice to him that, mixed with the subject matter, made the four of us at the table want to laugh. It didn't help that we would occasionally whisper stupid little jokes about what we were watching from time to time (I think one of us made a Clear Eyes joke about the narrator) to try to get each other to laugh even more. Every time one of us felt like we were going to be too loud, we would bury out faces in our arms or in our backpacks so we didn't get kicked out.

And then, suddenly out of nowhere, a diagram of man parts fades into the video as that monotone narrator starts his sentence with "The p****..." and that's all it took. K bursts out in a loud fit of laughter that I'm sure even the girls in the next room could hear. Mr. N, face red with anger, grabs K and escorts him out of the room with the latter saying stuff like "Aw come on, man!" on his way out. After he got kicked out, the rest of the video played without any more incidents though the remaining three of us still had to fight our own laughing to avoid being thrown out with K.

I continued taking sex ed every year in middle school and I believe I had it once in 9th grade as well but that was it. By 6th grade, I was a little more mature and didn't really find stuff like that funny anymore. Well... either that or learning through printed out paper meant there wasn't a monotone voice to make me laugh. Yeah it's probably that second one.
