I think the nicest one Ive been to was a Hyatt. They had a tv in the bathroom. And a VIP type room at the top where only guest on a certain few floors could go. So, the peasants werent allowed in (Jk). But it was really nice.

But which hotel is the nicest?

And whats the nicest hotel youve been to?

It entirely depends on where you are in the world. But the nicest I ever stayed in was a Hyatt resort as I won a week stay at it from my company's Christmas party grand prize.

Each country/city will have it's own top tier hotel.

I'm cheap though so I don't tend to indulge in this but I guess when it's on the company AMEX, I've enjoyed Crown Towers in Melbourne, JW Marriott in Asia, etc.

But the challenge is when there's something like a Hilton but really all they've done is buy an existing hotel and stuck their name on it but not necessarily brought it up to the standards.

(on a side note, I'm holding out for Marina Bay Sands but I can't bring myself to spend that much especially when I used to live in Singapore and pay about the same for one week's rent)

Oh yeah good reminder. Ritz Carlton in Kuala Lumpur was one I paid for out of my own pocket but you gotta love travelling in Asia (other than Japan, Singapore and a few other expensive countries) where 5 star hotels cost the same as a 2/3 star in Europe.

I would say Encore by Wynn on the Vegas strip the nicest one I have stayed out.
I have stayed at a Hyatt three times, all three were one night stays cause of a flight the next day.

I almost got to stay in a Hyatt because if that. A friend of mine offered it to me. I was hoping my flight would take off. I should have accepted...

dont see any reason to get a hotel over an airbnb unless it's some kind of emergency.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of Airbnb, but some people like hotels more. I normally use hotel when I go to place like Ocean City, as well. We also use them on TDYs. Though, they like to try to get the base hotels, first. And in the end, the question was still mostly which one was the best, and the best one you stayed at, rather than if you should stay at one over airbnb.

Either way, I think I'd rather stay at a hotel... Or if I had a close friend, maybe their house. But that's still a big maybe...

just doesn't make any sense to me tbh. Last time I was put in a (nice) hotel by my old company I thought to myself how much nicer and more spacious an entire house from airbnb would be for the same price.

If you can find one. And if it's nice. But I also don't need a whole house, most of the time. Especially if I'm not going to be in it. Like when I went to 6 flags with a friend, we just got a hotel room we slept in for one night. But we spent most of the day at the movies and a store. And then left the next day since we were going to leave after Sin Flags. And depending on the hotel, it may work better. Like some hotels would have a shuttle from the hotel to the park. Meaning you didn't have to worry about parking. Or would be in areas that were surrounded by food places. And I'd rather not give more money to people buying properties just to put it on Airbnb. Especially since some of them aren't even suppose to do it, sometimes...
