Really, it was the entire final 7 teams (since Bob & Joyce were duds - such nice people with a compelling story, but not good TV). Remember I rewatched TAR5 earlier this year.

Marshall and Lance were, well, pigs, but that is precisely what made them interesting. They also got into an epic fight with...
Mirna was such a bitch that you couldn't help but despise everything she did, allowing for her eventual comeuppance to be satisfying. Charla wasn't great, but by comparison she was at least tolerable.
Kami & Karli started out a bit pretentious but became likable after that. Two highly competitive, fun-loving girls that had gems like the flirting for cash in Dubai.

Brandon and Nicole were fake Christians, sure, lying like crazy and then going God this, God that, but that's precisely what made them such compelling television.
Colin and Christie were explosive and were the single best thing for the season. The amount of arguments they got into with other teams, cab drivers, and each other was great, and it made their TAR31 return long, LONG overdue.
Chip and Kim were awesome. Just plain awesome, rootable, likable people.

The only issue I have with the season is there being no limit to Roadblocks. The cast was amazing, and this season had IT ALL. Wonderful locations, airport drama, memorable teams galore (Alison & Donny's OTTN5 exit was great, too), and a highly competitive Race that anyone could've won. It's a masterpiece of reality television for a reason.

So far I have rewatched 1-6, 22, 25, 27, 29, 30, and I'm counting 31 since it's so recent. Among those I have 8 dark greens, 1 green, two purples, and an orange. Unfortunately I know there are some stinkers coming up and very few seasons that I remember very fondly left (I kinda blew the load early by watching the good seasons from the 20s out of order. Oh well).

I kinda hate the notion that devout Christians can't play a game cutthroat. Chip & Kim were Christians too and they played really cutthroat too. It's the same thing with Pearl Islands and people criticizing Lill for lying while wearing her Scouts uniform. It's like, so what?

And before it gets brought up, yes, there is a difference between Christians/Boy Scouts doing the same lying/backstabbing as everyone else and a children's therapist bullying defenseless people and telling them that they are faking their anxiety.

There's a massive difference between Chip & Kim and Brandon & Nicole. Chip & Kim didn't bring their religion into their game. Brandon & Nicole did. My problem is not with Christians playing a cutthroat game - it's with their hypocrisy of talking frequently about how good of Christians they are.

Remember how Dan Gheesling didn't wear his cross whenever he was going to do something duplicitous? He didn't want to bring his religion into that, and it got jurors to like him more. Even Jerry, who called him "Judas."

Yeah, this was my thought, too. He spent a whole fucking day away from camp, of course they all talked about what he was doing and whether or not he got an idol. The fact that it was an overnight was quite telling that it was more than the lie Elizabeth and Kellee told.

He should have played it, and we'd be rid of Karishma. He only had two rounds to do so, and now he looks like as much of a jackass as Chris Noble, who had the same thing happen to him... only Chris wasn't away from camp for as long, so Vince was dumber. Nobody knew about Chris having an idol. Everybody knew Vince had one. Also, Chelsea's screwed, if that confessional about her looking at where things went wrong is any indication. Le ugh.

I think the hope here was for a unification of the girls and guys, in case there was a swap on Day 9 like I personally was expecting since Vince didn't draw a name. Could have easily been a 5-5-6-1 split. But there's no swap, and I couldn't be happier. Let's hope there isn't one until 14, and there's no merge until 12 or 11 (that wont' be the case though).

She is frustrating to watch. "I'm different" - well focus on your similarities. "I'm the victim here!" - that was so weird. Maybe your tribe just didn't know how bad the bleeding was? Multiple previous castaways have stated that their entire casts (except for Reem) would've run to check on her. And then bombing the puzzle. And then her backing farther up against the wall by not offering Vince a suggestion at someone else to target. And then the fucking whispering. She's nailing a lot of my pet peeves quickly, and is probably my least favorite on Lairo at this point.

TAR8 is indeed the awful Family Season. Has a few moments, but it's not very exciting and there are way too many people to keep track of. TAR9 is pretty great, at least. TAR10 is good also, and IIRC is one of the most brutal races ever. I think 9 and 10 were made to be really hard after how fans hated how straightforward 8 was.

TARCAN is great and while burke is right, they would make a point of including international destinations in some of the seasons... and then fly right back to Canada the next episode.

The latest season was purely in Canada but I still love it. And yeah I guess it also removes the language barrier too so less of a worry on transportation, language barriers, or general issues with being in a foreign land, but still... bad taxi drivers still abound, hahaha.

Also the host, Jon Montgomery: I remember not liking him at the start (he was really only given the role due to a viral moment at the 2010 olympics?) but as the seasons go on he becomes more natural in the role so now enjoy his hosting. Still no Phil though.

Phil has this iconic voice and commanding presence, and the Race suffers without him. Survivor needs Jeff or someone like him to retain viewers - as a host, Jeff is still pretty good, even if him being Game Master is sucking the life from the show. The key words are "someone like him" - because look at Jonathan LaPaglia and Nico Panagio, both of whom do a pretty damn good job emulating Probst while putting their own spin on being host.

ChenBot is the least necessary because she's only in 40% of the episodes and has traditionally the least level of understanding of the game, plus she's becoming an increasingly toxic mouthpiece of undesirable fans herself. All I can say is... good luck to Big Brother finding a complete cast if you're going to embarrass people like that.

A random thought just occurred to me.

Dalton Ross did those oral history dissertations on Erik giving away immunity and Dan's Funeral, the most definitive of moments from their respective shows. Question is: What does Amazing Race have in that regard? Would it be Colin's meltdown in Tanzania? That's the one that comes to mind (seeing as his later "My Ox Is Broken!" is simply an incredibly memorable one-liner that has no basis for such a piece).

I highly doubt anyone could write a dissertation on that, though, given how one would have to track down that cab driver and ask him about something that happened 16 years ago.

Is there any Amazing Race moment you guys would want to see something like that on?

As amazing as John's arrogance leading to his elimination is, it isn't iconic to the same level as TAR2's finish line or Colin's meltdowns in TAR5. Most seasons have a cocky guy who helps facilitate his own elimination; John was, simply put, far and away the cockiest ever.

Brian and Greg flipping the truck in 7?

That was crazy, but I don't think it has endured the test of time as well, simply because Brian and Greg themselves haven't. That was in the Kalahari Desert on the way to a Pit Stop literally called "The Middle of Fucking Nowhere" IIRC, which... should be iconic too, yet I never hear about it anymore.
