I think its the larger EDH zeitgeist too. Look how many people whined when Iona got banned. The only thing wrong with banning a card that says one or more players may no longer play the game is that it didnt happen 8 years prior.

So apparently wizards announced on their regularly scheduled timing yesterday that there would be no bans in any format, but also that there would be no more regularly schedule ban time, and they would not give future announcement if they planned to ban something. In essence, they can ban what they want, when they want, with no warning.

Pioneer's ban list was announced to be updated on a weekly basis at the inception of that format and is not reflective of other formats.

They did say they weren't sticking to an exact schedule for bans, but I get the feeling that's so they have room to handle particularly egregious mistakes more quickly in future.

oh the impression I got from the article I read was the banlist thing was for all formats, but I guess it makes sense just for pioneer

That is still pretty funny though for them to say "we're not bannign anythign" and then a few hours later go "we banned things"

It is for all formats, I think (realistically just standard though), I just meant that the Pioneer bannings weren't reflective of that change in policy. Or perhaps the way Pioneer bans have been handled was a test drive for this change.

I know people don't really talk about commander here, but just had a really great commander game where I essentially became the archenemy and managed to still barely squeak out a win with Kadena.

Ghastly Conscription drew me 8-9 cards and gave me got me all of my key morph creatures back, and Volrath copying someone else's Pathbreaker Ibex got me the rest of the way there.

Felt pretty great for what will probably be my final commander game of the year!

Yeah, I know. I'm one of the few who have him unblocked.

I've yet to try the 5-color special in Eldraine, mainly because the fixing is so bad at common. You have the 3-mana 2/3 elf and that's it. I guess Golden Egg for a one-shot, but that's really just for a splash.

Drafted a UB deck Friday night. Thought I was up a creek because I only got one Secretkeeper... then realized I could just win with my insane control deck that had Lochmere Serpent, Stonescales Serpent, and Gadwick as well as two Order of Midnight like a normal fucking person.
