Nope. The game is just dumb with special catches. It does the same thing with Pikachu alts

Dumped a bunch of stuff for double candy, but some I might hold onto for future trading since older Pokemon can trigger lucky trades. Also got some rare new ghosts.

At any rate, I *finally* got a Darkrai raid into today so I have a Darkrai. Niantic crazy-buffed him before release so he's a lot stronger in raids than he should be. Had they changed nothing, he would have been a harder duo.

For several days it's been saying random Pokemon have not been encountered. Cacnea, Treecko, Weedle, Turtwig, etc.

Yeah, it's the same bug we saw when they added other shadow Pokemon. It goes away once you catch those Pokemon again.

The reason the game thinks you haven't caught the Pokmon is really stupid and would be easy to fix.

The nearby list checks if you own the Pokemon by searching for the name in the code.

Old pokemon in the code are listed as: WEEDLE.

When a shadow forme is added, they change the name to WEEDLE_NORMAL and WEEDLE_SHADOW.

And, you guess it. The game sees your old Weedles and knows you have not caught a WEEDLE_NORMAL yet, so shows it as uncaught on the nearby radar. Once you've caught a 'new' Weedle with the WEEDLE_NORMAL tag, it'll disappear from the nearby list once again.

You also cannot trade them to Let's Go until they're added to the whitelist. Dumb ass coding.

It's sporadically been a thing and, when it's sometimes been an option, you could use it for quick-catching because you'd leave the encounter before the catch animation finishes.

Only managed to get 3 Darkai raids in during the dinner hour, although I feel fortunate to have even done that. Best one I caught was a 91a.

Shuppet can fuck off. Little bastard always seems to move away as soon as I throw the ball, and has an annoyingly low catch rate. I've given up on it entirely, just tapping them to search for shinies.

My Darkrai catch rate continues to be awful. I'm 5/13 now, although my screen getting wet hurt me during that last one.

He is tough. Granted, strong fighting types and a weatherboost certainly help. If he hadn't been buffed, he could have been duo'd with a wb.

It's super frustrating on the rare occasion that I get to do a legendary raid, and we either don't win or I don't catch it. If it weren't for research breakthroughs I'd barely have and Legendaries at all.

Just spent all my Pokeballs and nearly all my Great Balls trying for three Excellent throws in a row. But I finally got it when I found a bunch of Numel hanging out together, and I got two Golett at once.

And I went through all my queued up reward encounters while the double candy is still in effect, so now comes the arduous task of going through my 2000 Pokemon to get rid of anything I don't want.

Just looked it up. I think I actually heard about that long ago, but forgot all about it.

Those multiple Excellent throws are really the only throw challenges I have trouble with, so I'd rarely find myself using the glitch anyway.

...no, not really. It's the legendary birds + Groudon + Kyogre. At this point I'm mostly kinda disappointed that we never got Gira-O again, although he won't be relevant (other than EX raids) for a while anyway. Speaking of EX raids, I've only had *one* EX pass since Mewtwo has been back =(

A lot of legendaries are super-easy now (Darkrai being a major exception). I was duo'ing Rayquaza and trio'ing Gira-A (who you can duo in windy/foggy, or if you get stupidly lucky with top counters)

I think I've only expanded my Pokemon storage to 1800. My bag is at the 2k, only because they won't let us expand it further. Had been hitting the ceiling.

In the last couple days I got two 100% Sableye and one shiny Geodude, so now I have one shiny and two 100% of each.

And I'm glad I get another chance to get Kyogre.. since I didn't get one in the two freaking months that it was available.

Final Darkrai count was 9/17. There were two raids I lost, though. One I tried knowing that it probably wasn't going to work and another which I thought we had enough for but one or two of the players were too weak.

Haven't done a regi yet today, but only planning on using my two daily passes (one from yesterday, one from today) at most. Plus supposedly they have a t4 difficulty and timer so they should be a lot easier regardless.

Yeah, I'm not supporting it on principle. (And because I'm working this weekend.)

I'm not really opposed to it because prior to this one the events were in-person and people -- including myself -- had wanted the opportunity to participate. This particular one is junk, so I won't be participating... and likely I'll never shell out real money for PG (unless they start gating exclusive, worthwhile stuff behind paywalls), but I like having the option.

As for this event, it's just:

1) Early access to Regigas, who will be an EX boss anyway and, even if you don't get him as an EX, will likely come out to normal raids at some point like every other EX boss

2) Up to 10 daily passes you can claim during the time period, which is worse than getting premium passes. Plus the only t5 is Regis, which generally suck. (Although it's not bad if you're a shiny hunter.)

3) One Unova and one Sinnoh stone. Sinnoh stones are super-common from PvP & trainer battles. Unova stones are rare.... but not much uses them atm and they'll be common in the future.

4) An exclusive medal and a currently-exclusive trainer pose. The trainer pose will likely be re-released, but the medal will probably always be exclusive.

So is it worth it? I certainly don't think so. However, I prefer this to something locked behind a Go-Fest, plus we're getting some pretty cool other benefits right now (reduced egg distance, some decent Pokemon are common)

Wound up doing 3 Regi raids in, no shinies. Was going to stop at 2 because they aren't worth the premium pass, but the people I was raiding with wanted to another one and I felt guilty.

With Swinub being out in force, I imagine you'll need a few stones. Mamoswine is hella beast. I did some Rayquaza duos with them back when he was still out. And before you know it, Zekrom will be around. (Some of the dragons are better counters, but Mamoswine still ranks up there.)
