Finally caught a shiny Turtwig today (which was my big regret about not really participating in the CD). Plus, with the spawn points changed, even if I head out late to a CD again (well, when I'm home), I'll have spawns that pop up right around me.

I did the Charmander day -- during which it was raining because, well, of course -- and didn't get a shiny from that. However, much later I caught a lv35 shiny so it worked out. Dratini I only managed to do towards the end because I was at either a wedding or funeral that day and never got a shiny. Bagon & Totodile I didn't do and never got a shiny. Honestly, I'm not that upset by not getting a shiny Totodile, but shiny Salamence is kinda neat and shiny Dragonite would have been a nice change of pace.

It's possibly a 0% level 1 (max CP for a 0% lv1 Salamence is 46). Low IV lv1 Pokemon can have ridiculously low CPs. A 0% Bagon would have 12 cp at lv1. And, it's worth noting, a 0% lv1 Mewtwo would only have 52 CP.

I've had a few Pokemon like that, but I haven't had a 0%

Like 90% sure that Niantic hasn't actually confirmed any of that yet, it's just speculation based on what was found in the code vs what Niantic has announced.

I was having trouble with an Alolan Raichu raid, when I realized I didn't have a double Dark Tyranitar. So I made one and powered it up, but by then the raid was over.

I later found another Raichu raid, got my Tyranitar ready to kill.. and got wrecked by Grass Knot.

Why the fuck does a psychic air surfing Raichu know Grass Knot??

Though that can play to your advantage sometimes. At least my double ground Rhyperior does alright normally against Raichu, but mud slap and earthquake are slow. Grass knot will certainly kill it faster, but itll recharge a second earthquake immediately and Ill get ahead on damage pace

Because Pokemon have varied move-sets in the main games to make them slightly more viable for PvP and it carries over to Go. GK is a very recent addition to its PG moveset.

At any rate, Raichu knowing GK is just one more advantage for Gira-O (who resists it) and is neutral for Excadrill (who, iirc, now has the highest ground DPS, along with a Steel subtype)

Or you could just use a better counter =p

They should be re-releasing Gira-O after Gira-A leaves the game, who has higher DPS for stuff like that and a better resistance table.

He's an easy duo. Once he comes out, you just need to find one other player. And you really don't need that many and he's more powerful at lv30 than a lot of other Pokemon at lv40. Honestly, ground is such shit as an attacking type that high DPS neutrals can out-DPS many of its top Pokemon.

You can find them in the wild. They're not super rare and they only take 50 to evo. And, because Pokemon Go is a resource game, you should avoid wasting candy powering things up. I have a team of 6 Mamoswine, all lv30+, which I evo'd from WB'd Swinub. Had I just powered up some good IV low level ones, I'd probably only have 2-3 Mamoswine, which is a lot less useful.

Krook looks like he's going to be inferior to TTar. Bisharp might be a bit better off, but he's likely out-DPS'd by Hydrogein. Not that any of this matters, because all of them are going to be blown out of the water by Darkrai down the road.

The Sinnoh stones are literally the least of the problems. If you do your daily team leader and PvP battles, you'll be drowning in them eventually. I just threw 40 away again because I realized I had 56.

I don't do trainer battles often, but I train with the team leaders a lot and I've only gotten two stones from them.

Today's community day sucked. I played almost the whole time and only got two shinies. Did a Giratina raid and didn't even catch it.

The Trapinch spawns were way, way down compared to other CDs. I didn't participate that much in the CD (because I hate the new hours), but what little I did play I saw far more non-Trapinch than I saw Trapinch. Usually they seem to overload things with CD Pokemon.

And I did another Gira raid without a shiny. It's hard to know how many I've done since it's been back (because I didn't think to check my dex and write down that number beforehand), but it's likely I'm over 20 dry now since I'm at 28 encounters and don't think I was able to do that many raids when he was out the first time.

This is a little late and not particularly useful, but I learned a while back that on a Community Day you can get a field research from the same Pokestop up to three times.

A Pokestop's research isn't registered as "completed" until you get the reward for it. So you can get a mission from the stop before the event begins, then as long as you haven't gotten the reward from it, you can get the new CD mission from that same stop once the event starts. You can take it a step further and also not get that reward, and once the event ends you can get the original research mission from the stop a second time. (You could instead hit two Pokestops twice using this method, but it can't be done with three because once you grab any reward, that stop is permanently "completed" for the day.)

It's mostly just trivial information that I found out of curiosity. But if you plan to be in one place the whole time and you find a particularly valuable research mission, it could be worth doing.

Halloween deets are out. Darkrai (not Gira-O) will replace Gira-A, marking his introduction to the game (and meaning he's coming out before the top-tier fighters are released). iirc, he's going to be the new premier Psychic and Ghost counter. At the moment, it seems like he may only be around for the 2 weeks of the Halloween event (Oct17-Nov1), which is stupidly short especially given how long Gira-A has been around.

Costumed Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander are coming to (t1?) raids for the event. A costumed (Mimikyu) version of Pikachu will be in the wild. All four will have be available as a shiny.

Double candy on hatches, catches, and transfers during the event.

Yamask and his evo are being released, will be available as shiny right away. A number of other ghosts and dark types will be more common during the event.

Few good bonuses in there. Only kinda drawback is having to wait on Gira-O
