I have Nvidia and it sucks, there's some lag on my media player. My old computer had amd, which didn't give me any problems so I might switch for this new computer of mine. But just wondering which is the best one.

Um, you should use the appropriate video driver that matches your card. If you have an RX580 (for example) then you need to go to the AMD website and download the driver set for that card. Don't use Nvidia drivers for your AMD card, or AMD drivers for your Nvidia card.

If you're wondering which is the best in general, there is no right answer. Different cards have different drivers and different games favor different drivers. So you can't just say "AMD is better." In terms of modern games, you're probably less likely to run into as many problems with Nvidia, simply because they hold the most market share and games companies design with that in mind.

Are you sure your drivers are what's causing your video lag? There's probably lots of things that could be causing that.

Yes, it is against the terms of service. Do not use the boards to set up orgies.

Do you use the WMD drivers included with Windows or have you downloaded the official latest drivers from Nvidias website?
Are you playing the exact same movie files as you did on your AMD? Could be a more complex codec that requires more power to run.
Are you running other things in the background?

I updated all the drivers and online some people were saying that I should change the Nvidia control panel's 3d settings power management mode to adaptive but even after doing all that it still has a lag in media player classic when I come back to it. Pc is brand new and has 16 tb ram with no programs to bog it down and 10 tb ram at any one point that are unused, so everything else is lightning quick, it's just that weird 1-2 second lag in both audio and video when I play a video that I paused for a couple of minutes and then came back to.

16TB of storage? Damn. You running a media server? Like others have said, it might not be a driver issue, especially if you've got videos across like 8 different hard drives.
