Damn, Sultan gets the better of me again! At least it was more competitive than usual! Aguayo picked a bad time to miss his first field goal(s) of the season, think he's always been good for at least one blown game a season or so. And Pittman heard me talking shit and had a good rushing game! Ah well, I've seen signs of hope!

Rams are 1-5 and last in the NFC but have the NFC's 8th best point differential (-1). All five of their losses have been by single digits.
Along with the Giants, Hawks, Raiders, and Wildcats, those are the only teams to have yet to lose by double digits. Those other four teams are a combined 16-10. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy https://imgur.com/VfpY7tg ... Copied to Clipboard!

Well that was the sort of pick me up win I needed in a crucial game after the loss last week. Margin was especially surprising given what KCF previously said about the Bengals and that it seems like I had my backup QB in from the 1st quarter.
Looks like McClain is on track to compile the best ever defensive season of a Steeler during my time here. Granted plenty of time for a slump or injury after only 6 games. I still think it's going to be difficult to make the playoffs though as I'll need a healthy lead before those final 6 games. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Bears Receive:
CB Patrick Peterson (85 overall, 27 years old) Dolphins 1st round pick Dolphins 3rd round pick Dolphins 4th round pick Dolphins 5th round pick Dolphins Receive: CB Morris Claiborne (76 overall, 26 years old) Bears 1st round pick Bears 2nd round pick Bears 3rd round pick Bears 5th round pick If the Bears pick in the Top 7, the Dolphins receive the Bears 2nd, 3rd and 5ths, and the Bears receive the Dolphins 3rd and 5th. If the Bears pick after the Dolphins, the Dolphins receive the Bears 2nd, 3rd, and 5th, and the Bears receive the Dolphins 4th and 5th, which I just now realize that there is no reason for me to do a negative drop in the 5th under this scenario (I was the one who came up with some quick conditionals, so it's my dumb fault). The Bears incur a $450k cap penalty to make an originally $4.74 mil cap hit into a $2.39 mil cap hit. The Dolphins incur a $3.30 mil cap penalty to make an originally $3.49 mil cap hit into a $4.29 mil cap hit. Both Stan and myself demonstrated they knew what they were giving up and receiving, the financial implications, and were aware of the past histories of both players. Peterson is a two-time Pro Bowler as almost exclusively a slot corner who has also contributed in the return and apparently passing game. Claiborne if I am being honest I don't care about his history. He is in Miami to ride the bench and leave in the offseason. I just wanted a CB on an expiring deal in return. The Bears seek more young, skilled players to add to this rebuilding team, especially in areas of strength. They made the trade when they were fifth in the league in pass defense. The Bears also seek to prevent a ratings decline of former #2 overall pick Janoris Jenkins. This trade also gives them cap flexibility in the present and future. The Dolphins saw that Peterson's morale was starting to drop. They had a high draft pick in Ross Cockrell sitting behind them, and with the looming free agencies of QB Sam Keller, DT Ndamukong Suh, and others, the Dolphins felt now was the best time to break up their expensive secondary in hopes of seeing at least a little cap savings next season in spite of the cap penalty. At any rate, they at least receive the equivalent of a high draft pick (in 2/3 of the trade scenarios laid out above) for a player they once signed as an unsigned draft of the Falcons. Per trade reform, this trade is official and as mentioned on Wednesday, it was in effect for Week 7. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy ... Copied to Clipboard!

Power Rankings
1. Hawks 2. Dolphins 3. Jaguars 4. Cowboys 5. Vikings The Hawks have the #1 offense and is Top 5 in both running and passing the ball, as evidenced by them owning the league's passing and rushing yard leaders. They have an absurd +13 turnover differential, which would beat the record by I want to say four (+26 would beat what the Dolphins did last season, which I believe was +22). The only area that could be seen as a problem is a pass D that is ranked 17th in the league, but that's not an awful problem to have by any stretch of the imagination. Despite giving up 400 yards of offense to the Browns in Week 7 (haven't given up 300+ yards to any of their seven other opponents), the Dolphins own the league's #2 D behind the Rams and a +11 turnover differential. While HB Jacquizz Rodgers is mired in a mediocre season (3.8 YPC, 73 rushing yards per game), the backups have picked up some slack as Eddie Lacy and Chris Thompson have chipped 40 yards per game on 4.6 YPC. QB Sam Keller had a slow start to the season but is now 3rd in passer rating, 2nd in yards, and 3rd in TDs, though he is on pace for his lowest completion % (62.4) since S7. Their penalties (65 is "good" for fifth most in the league) and sacks allowed (24 is third most) even in light of poor OL health are troublesome in a highly competitive AFC, but they seem to get things done regardless. This is the Jags D of old as they are 5th in the league, including #1 against the pass. It probably isn't as impressive when you figure in that five of their seven games have included the moribund passing attacks from the Titans, Bills, Lions, Colts, and Bears, but this is a very young secondary with seven of its nine members in their rookie through third seasons in the league. Sultan has to be ecstatic about that. The offense has been sneakily good yardage-wise (9th), but I don't think anyone is particularly fearing to play the offense this season. HB Adrian Peterson is on pace for his worst non-injury shortened season (yardage-wise, and his 4.2 YPC would be his second-worst in a full season), and QB Tim Tebow has an even TD:INT ratio. While there are some signs to regression (many stats seem to be based on cup-cake schedule), they are 6-1, and they have the overall production to match. Ignore the 4-3 record, the Cowboys are still the class of the NFC. They are 1st in scoring, 5th on offense, 4th on defense, have a +8 turnover differential, and they have an MVP candidate in QB Vince Young. It is weird that all three of their losses have been decided by double digits, including two against against some of the worst offenses in the league (Packers and Bears). Their only red flags are on defense as their offense has no holes. They are 29th in scoring D (not that all points scored on them are while their defense is on the field), 26th in sacks, 20th in Def INT, and 30th in red zone scoring % D. The fact that they are 4th on defense suggests that the scoring and red zone Ds will be coming down quite a bit. I should really put the Raiders here. Those wins against the Dolphins and Bucs are looking better as the season goes on, and they have the #7 O, #6 D, +4 turnover differential. They should be 6-2, but I guess I will put the Vikings here despite some glaring issues. They have the #3 offense behind HB Courtney Lewis, dual-threat and one-time MVP Josh Portis, and a deep roster of pass-catchers. The OL is still a work-in-progress after at least six members have hit the injury report at some point this season. They do have an issue of turning the ball over (16 in eight games), but they lead the league in takeways with 24 (13 INTs, 11 FRs), so it has all worked out. While their D has been a playmaking machine (3rd with 27 sacks + INTs/FRs), they are 21st on D, and it is rare for a playoff team to have a D ranked 20th or worse. There's still half a season to work on it. HM: Raiders, Broncos, Seahawks --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy ... Copied to Clipboard!

Divisional Power Rankings
1. AFC West 2. NFC East 3. NFC West 4. AFC North 5. AFC South 6. AFC East 7. NFC North 8. NFC South The AFC West houses three of my personal Top 8 teams. Tough break Chiefs The Giants are the best current basement dweller as there are four bona fide playoff caliber teams in the NFC East. A rebounding Wildcats, a steady Seahawks, an underrated 49ers, and a Rams team with the #1 D that should be at worst 3-4 make the NFC West the league's third best division. An up and down season for everyone in the AFC North outside of the Browns, but the Ravens, Steelers, and Bengals are all above .500 and have quality wins under their belt. Things looked ugly early in the AFC South with only the Jags doing work, but the Pioneers and Colts' surging Ds have brought them both back to respectable records. The Titans are the Titans. The Dolphins have exploded these past three weeks, the Pats are looking respectable as they approach an easy backend of the schedule, and the Jets were hammered by injuries early but have started to show up as of late even as the injuries haven't stopped. The Bills are a disaster right now, but the AFC East is trending ever so slightly up. The Vikings are looking like they could win a playoff game or two, and while an in-depth look at stats do not paint a pretty picture for the Packers, they are 5-2 and leading the division. The Lions are not poor in anything but find themselves in the 17th-22nd range for most major stats. The Bears sneakily have the #11 D, but that offense is abysmal being led by rookie QB Zach Mettenberger who has 5 times as many INTs as TDs and is on pace for the worst rookie passer rating by a qualified player in our league's history. The NFC North doesn't take last because... The Bucs are 5-2, but they have a negative point differential. The Falcons are pretty mediocre across the board. The Panthers are who we thought they were. The Lightning shook off a poor start and were looking interesting until injuries just screwed things up. They still have a dark horse award candidate in HB Kestahn Moore at least. Congrats NFC South, you bring up the rear. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy ... Copied to Clipboard!

Welp, McNeal knocked out of the game in back to back weeks? Or I guess he could have had a 1 week injury caused by last week. Can't expect to win throwing 3 INT's but gotta expect that will happen occasionally with a scrambling QB I guess.
My WR corps looks pretty atrocious now with Meachem injured but at least it's not season ending although I will be missing him for 3 pretty critical games. Going to be tricky, and quite unlikely, that we can get 10 wins now (Regardless of the injury). Well I expected a tough season I guess. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Hard to know if it made a difference. On one hand 3 INTs is pretty awful. On the other McNeal is still a scrambler so may have had similar results anyway EDIT: Oh and aside from a low rated unknown QB I also had probably the weakest receivers in the league with Meachem injured. QB 81, WR1 85, WR2 73, TE 73. Can't expect any sort of passing game under those circumstances so 3 INTs is understandable. ... Copied to Clipboard!

- Bucs DE Raymond Henderson, Redskins DE J.J. Watt, and Vikings DT Dewayne Robertson are on pace for 16+ sacks. - Nobody is particularly close to being on pace for 100+ pancake blocks. - Lightning OLB Wesley Woodyard is on pace for 185+ tackles. Mike Peterson would be proud. - Hawks HB DeMarco Murray is on pace for 2000+ rushing yards. - Hawks QB Philip Rivers and Dolphins QB Sam Keller are on pace for just under 4000 passing yards. - Bears have some catching up to do to enter the playoff picture. - Cowboys are leading the NFC East. - Dolphins are leading The AFC East. - Pumpkins are I believe the 7th seeded NFC team, so literally just outside at the moment. - Rams HB Roy Helu Jr. recorded two return TDs in Week 1 and none since. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy If you smell what the rock is cooking he's cooking crap - ertyu ... Augh, what a rough loss. The defense held it together, but the offense bombed hard.

Madden's first preliminary MVP list includes some usual suspects (Vince Young, Sam Keller, and Zach Brown) and also the Hawks duo of Philip Rivers and DeMarco Murray.
Meanwhile, the Offensive Rookie of the Year list is a joke. There's Odell Beckham Jr, a QB who has played in four games, a HB with more fumbles than TDs and one of the worst YPCs in the league, a QB with a passer rating barely north of 60, and the 64th leading receiver in the league. Depending on how things shake out, I wouldn't be surprised if I end up replacing the final nominees with 3+ OL. We do have four OL with 20+ blocks who have allowed two or fewer sacks. --- KCF can't actually be a real person but he is - greengravy If you smell what the rock is cooking he's cooking crap - ertyu ...
