Power DoLLs (FX) - Eclipse Composed by Hiroto Saitoh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7FaOYjcXbI" data-time=" wow this is amazing. not only do i adore this jazz fusion-type of VGM but this really takes me back to the mid-'90s (of COURSE this came out in '94) when EVERYthing* in video games sounded like this. back then i wasn't into music at all (i wouldn't become a serious music fan until like... 2005 actually) but i would play video games with my brother and my friends on the computer and the playstation and the nintendo 64 (occasionally) and very often the music i would hear in those games was my favorite music in the world (along with music i heard on a radio station that mostly played '70s and '80s pop that my mom always listened to in the car). back in those days i didn't even know what fusion was but now i know the japanese love their fusion and most of those games came from japan so in retrospect i'm like "it makes sense that i loved that music so much since fusion is one of my favorite genres." but yeah, not only is it "that style of music" (it gets many points for that aspect alone), but i love the melodies as well. what a great nom! also, this tune is really mycro. if someone had nominated it for mycro's topic (maybe someone did?) i'm sure it would have done pretty well. note that a song being mycro is actually not necessarily good but fortunately this is the "omg i adore this" kind of mycro, not the bad kind of mycro ~~(i.e. vibetech by marmozets)~~. * well not EVERYthing in video games sounded like this there was also a lot of techno and rock and ambient and etc. but you know. when i think of "VGM i heard in the mid-'90s" i think of stuff like this, is what i'm saying. wow this track is so mycro that writeup turned out slightly mycro writeup-ish. (stockhausen i never got into even though he was a huge influence on zappa - sorry mycro.) but yeah, i like this song even better than the phantasy star II soundtrack (which i thought was very good as well). more music from this franchise should be in VGMC! "somewhat 'out there' fusion bands that started in the '80s," is what i'm going to call this genre.
