A lot of the games in this poll have already gotten versions on newer consoles. That plus Nintendo LFF probably decided the result.

I have the original Gamecube version but never played it. KP warned me the encounter rate and speed is just laughable trash. Its been four years, and the zeitgeist has mostly shifted - especially in SM64s case. Pokemon XY also came within a few dozen votes of beating Link Between Worlds in the 2013 3DS poll, and LBW later beat out The Last of Us and GTAV in the final three.
