I'm not sure I understand the logic in LSU being at 2. Not saying that they don't deserve it but if they are jumping above Clemson and Ohio State based on their wins (which is fair) then they should also be above Alabama too since they have a more impressive resume.

I know it will sort itself out on the field but it just feels weird to me.

Nobody is allowed to jump Alabama without beating them

Given that they're currently first among "Also Receiving Votes" and we're guaranteed a couple of ranked teams losing due to them facing each other, a win at Memphis (admittedly, they're an underdog to do so) would almost certainly give Tulane their first Top 25 appearance since their undefeated 1998 season. Should this come to pass, the American would join the SEC, ACC, and Pac-12 as the only conferences whose member schools have all been ranked at least once this decade--Connecticut would take over the title of longest drought in the conference, and they're only 9 years removed from a Fiesta Bowl appearance.

(The Big 12, of course, is missing Kansas, the only Power 5 team with zero bowl appearances this decade--though ironically their last ranking was more recent than their last bowl appearance, courtesy of a 5-0 start to the 2009 season that turned into a 5-7 season. As for the Big Ten? Well, let's just say that the last time a school from the state of Indiana other than Notre Dame was ranked was when the 2008 Ball State Cardinals made it through the regular season undefeated before losing both the MAC Championship Game and their bowl game. Purdue, at least, had been ranked the previous year; Indiana was last ranked in 1994, the only Power 5 team still waiting for their first Top 25 appearance of the 21st Century.)

Tech's new coach has displayed some of the most cowardly punting behavior I've ever seen.

It's also super weird to see a Tech team with QB play so bad they're literally terrified to throw the ball downfield. 1st and goal and they go run, run, run, FG. Kingsbury really left them with nothing in the cabinet as far as QB depth goes... and that's supposed to be his whole thing?

I mean you went from "Refs are trying to screw the Gators" to "Eh, let them play the game". Either you believe in penalties being called or you believe in street ball.

I like when teams are allowed to play the game; part of the game is following the rules of said game. The false start missed call is one thing, maybe that wouldn't have impacted it, but the offensive pass interference makes it so anyone with no talent at all can play the game. Anyone can score if the guy that's supposed to be there against you is being illegally held by another player 5 yards away from you.

most egregious being Tennessee clearly trying to set up a trick play in the red zone and hurry up and snap it before Bama could react to it...only for the refs to prevent them from snapping the ball for literally no reason whatsoever

It's not like it truly matters since it's the committee rankings which are used for anything important. I'd imagine if Ohio State beat Wisconsin next week, they would have leaped Clemson at that point anyway.

I don't think there's ever going to be a risk of an unbeaten Clemson missing out which I'm sure they will be given how bad their conference has been in recent years.

Looking at it, it seems that only the AP poll is dropping Clemson too. Coaches still have them at 2.

If there's one problem with Oklahoma's loss, it's that it requires another one to cause any "damage".

Right now we're pretty clearly set for 1. Alabama/LSU winner, 2. Ohio State/Penn State winner 3. Clemson 4. Alabama/LSU loser.

(I don't see there being any reason to believe in Baylor or Minnesota at all)

Fans of chaos are definitely rooting for Auburn here! The top of the SEC taking an extra loss turns the #4 into a potential dogpile no matter how the rest of the games go.

Anyway, I am curious. Do you think it occurs to the Big 12 refs, when they're under the hood looking at that play, that making the correct call will almost certainly cost their employer several millions of dollars? The incentives there are a little fucked...
