This trope is so prevalent in the live action stuff lol, it's almost cliche at this point.

Yeah maybe we should blame x-men way back in 2000. They're the first that started the "too cool for comics" look that's still utterly ridiculous and pleather.

the several shades darker is probably what gives me the biggest eye roll, especially with dc's garbage, although marvel does it too.

I still get mad when I see that scene

But see it's funny because they referenced the comic book. It would certainly be silly for a guy called Cyclops and Storm to wear leotards and spandex, phew did they dodge a bullet there.

Oh you know what's also eyeroll worthy? When they're coy with the character's comic book name so they refer to them as "the flag waiver" or "the red blue blur"
