If "top ceos" of big corporations want to put social responsibility above profit, they should do so in earnest, and not push for new business-related legislation in a thinly-veiled form of regulatory capture (edit: or partake in idle signaling to boost their brand's standing with the public)

Real talk, an extra $1000 a month would bump my monthly income up to $3000 a month, which would dramatically help me out lol.

1000/mo for every adult citizen is almost equivalent to the money printed annually by the fed

the fed, of course, funnels the money it prints to the big banks at low, zero, or negative real interest rates

rich get richer, poor get poorer, trickle down fallacy in action since 1971

given how bad the state of affairs is (for an assortment of factors, to be honest), bypassing the big banks and experimenting with trickle-up monetary policy by sending the money straight to main street is probably worth exploring

Can you imagine people getting free money per month?

Id say 95% are irresponsible with money to begin with, so this entire charade about giving out free money shouldnt even be considered

people should get educated regarding finances first

The first company mentioned to sign on is Amazon. ******* lol.

This is like the Paris Climate Agreement but with CEOs making empty pledges for virtue signaling points instead.

Maybe it should be a requirement to attend some kind of financial literacy course to get it

Even if the free money is like a voucher to only spend the money on certain stores like supermarkets or paying bills, the problem still remains where their other money they always got they will spend irresponsibly more so (because hey look extra money to spend!) and well be back to square one with people struggling with the lack of money

Being financially irresponsible with money is what drives our economy though so I don't understand how that's supposed to be a bad thing.

There is some indication that with UBI in effect, companies would have leverage to scale back worker benefits and wages to great effect. This might not be benign virtue signaling.

True but then well come full circle with the same group of people complaining they want even more money and how corporations have enough money to give out more and it isnt fair

Its ironic that people that hate capitalism are the same people that have that greed thought of wanting fairness in terms of money for society lol
