Yeah I'm thinking about it now. There's so much rhetoric about student debt and the evil rich, but meanwhile, they're just throwing away their money in the big cities.

Why I moved, and got a decent job in a much cheaper to live in state.

Sure, less food choices and there isn't a starbucks every two feet, but I went from never having a dime at the end of the month to stress-free budgeting.

It's not going to just all of a sudden going to be full city price in cheap areas. It's a balancing act. One side slowly goes up, and the other goes down. They're not going to just both go up due to this population flow. (It will still go up due to natural house appreciation and inflation obviously though).

Also, there's just too many people who crave crowds. I still can never wrap my head around why people love places that are packed with people.

Don't quite get the "lol just move!" logic.

Moving cost money.
Leaving your job to move elsewhere means you aren't making money(Unless they have a business over there or you work from home).
Finding a job takes time.

Even if you do the smart thing and secure a job before moving, you're still stuck at the more expensive place until then.

There are more cavats to that advice than you're giving credit for.

I moved to a smaller working class town and I've never been happier, and everyone told me what you told me

It's extremely easy to make connections and way less competitive, and my monthly rent is half of what it was for a bigger place with a yard

You and the other people think the options are expensive city or shithole. That's why I think you guys haven't been many places.

There are tons of nice places you can live in for a fair price. I lived in Houston for less than $1k a month in a nice area. I've done the same in a nice suburb of Atlanta.

Meanwhile, I've been to LA,and Boston, you get cramped ass living quarters for insane prices. Places are dirty. Pollution is everywhere.

And you know what? You don't even need to move across the country. If you move out of the city into a lesser suburb, you'll get much better prices. You can easily shave off a few hundred dollars in rent by moving like 20 minutes out of a bustling area.

Okay now you're putting words in my mouth. Your original point was about moving somewhere cheaper to suit income. No one is moving la to Houston and leaving everything behind just to save on rent it's a completely disingenuous argument to make. What a lot of people do however do is to move outside of their city to an undesirable location so that they can sit in hours of traffic every day to and from some plastic commuter town so they can save until they hate their lives more than they can stand. Millions of people do that and regret it. It is regressive to compromise on your living situation in order to sustain something you hate anyway. You would be much better off finding an arrangement that allows You to live somewhere you like affordably whether it be through homesharing or getting some kind of second income (I've done both).
