With JJ season 3 done, that's the last of the Marvel Netflix shows isn't it. A lot of people hated them and say only one of them was any good, and sometimes not even that. For my part I liked all of them (except iron fist season 1 which toed the line between so bad it's good to just plain bad, and Defenders which was incredibly disappointing and wtf)

Thing is though even despite the so called bad seasons or shows I was fine with watching because I thought they were building up to something like with MCU's Avengers, something that would make it all worth it. But now that they're all canceled it pretty much makes them worthless which is a shame because I like a lot of the characters in it and feel they deserve to be in the greater MCU, like the daredevil characters.

The contract between Marvel and Netflix made the characters exclusive to Netflix for 2 years after cancellation. So just cross your fingers for them to pop back up on Disney+ or something in 2 years.

It was only 8 episodes so you'd think it would be tightly focused but nope, almost the entire time you had the 4 turn on each other or one go "I shouldn't be here, I'm leaving you guys!" and basically the equivalent of "screw you guys I'm going home" from both matt and jessica.

There was never a... there was never that moment, that moment in the first Avengers movie where they all work as a team, where they became The Avengers. True for that movie someone needed to die to bring them together but still.

Don't get me wrong there are individual moments like Danny x Luke that I enjoyed, as well as Jessica x Matt interactions. But as a whole? They really dropped the ball. There were several moments where I thought something amazing was going to happen, but then it's like... nope sorry never mind.

Be it budget, writing, or what have you, the television team up equivalent of the movie universe's Avengers left a lot to be desired.

Also, that gif. That one hilarious gif if anyone has it.

Do we even know the details of this contract, like whether these characters will belong to disney afterwards? 2 years is a long time... which may or may not be a good thing if that time is spent on fleshing out good stories and development and great setpieces.

Daredevil was good outside of the awful second half of the 2nd season that seemed to just be there for Defenders.

JJ was only good cause of David Tennant.

Iron Fist was crap.

Luke Cage was good. It had problems where people acted stupid just to get the season to 13 episodes but I didn't hate it outside of the stupid ending to the second season.

Punisher was...strange. I enjoyed it, but it felt like a lot of wasted time. Did we really need a complete retread of his storyline from Daredevil for the first season? Should it have taken what amounted to three season for him to fully embrace being "The Punisher"?

At the end of the day, I'm glad it is over because it feels like the people Netflix got to do these shows were ashamed that they were doing Superhero shows. It's why I fear for Witcher so much.

iirc, its 2 years after the last episode dropped for the character. So JJ wont be able to be used till 2021 as with Punisher, etc.

This.

Defenders was fantastic. I will never understand the hate. 4 assholes come together to save the city they have a love/hate relationship with. I mean, how the fuck else did anyone else expect it to play out?

The teaser at the end of season 2 is what the show should have been from the very beginning. An Iron Sword, dual wielding iron guns... it was hilariously awesome. I'd watch that show, something close to a wuxia show.

The problem with Iron Fist that it has no homages or themes like the other 3:

Daredevil is a crime thriller type show.

Jessica Jones has homages to neo-noir.

Luke Cage has homages to blaxploitation films.

Iron Fist... nothing. Based on the concept you'd think it would have themes tied to wuxia genre better and wire-fu movies but nope, season 1 was some surreal nonsense and season 2 only marginally improved upon it.

They did a good job considering Marvel TVs dude in charge was hated by the guy who does the movies.

Shame they could not find a way to really link the two and really build something special that all tied together.

While I get that nothing will ever top "That's my secret Captain" I was hoping for something equivalent but for the smaller screen. There was one scene where I actually thought they would show Jessica Jones flying (I'd heard she flies in the comics) and it was exciting but then nope, she just lifts something, which we've all seen before.

And there's a lot of stuff that I took umbrage with at the time that I'm kinda over now with regards to the villains and just how the season plays out.

Also there were a bunch of gifs before the show came out with the fight scenes and how... not very good they were. Mostly it was making fun of danny (who I've taken pity on because the actor gets a lot of hate)

Oh man I feel like Luke Cage season 2 and Iron Fist season 2 were indirectly proportional to each other. As the season went along one got better and one got worse. Iron Fist's ending made me actually want to see where it was going, but Luke Cage's utterly bizarre ending just made me go wtf and it looking back it's probably even worse than I remember.

With regards to the punisher, I actually liked season 1... not sure what people mean though with regards to saying it took 3 seasons for him to be the punisher. Wasn't he already the punisher this entire time?
