This is what happens to people after they see the ST, they go insane and realize the PT was the last great SW trilogy.

Not sure how these people can say any movie is better then ROTS and TESB though, those 2 are the best SW movies.

I personally don't remember the prequel hate being immediate outside of maybe Jar Jar, though when it did rear its head it was usually from fans who were around to watch the OT during its initial run(s).

The PT hate only got truly severe after the RedLetterMedia stuff. I remember watching that grow over time until it became (what felt like) a bandwagon.

There's a definite wow factor in the PT. All that expensive, fancy CGI of the day was mind blowing. Yoda using his lightsaber, too. My theater gave a standing ovation for that scene.

It takes a while for the thrills to wear off. Once you've seen the badass asteroid field chase and gotten over just how cool the buzzing sound effect is, the rest of the movie is a certified disaster. Not even the good actors can act decently in that movie.

AotC is legitimately awful. I think it's worse than Last Jedi tbqh and I think Last Jedi sucks donkey dick.

I don't have hate for TPM or RotS though. Not as good as originals and the political shit kind of drags but entertaining enough.

I've been seeing this lately and people have been posting it as a "Gotcha!" to people hating on the prequels or sequels. There have always been fanboys, super cynical people that hate anything, and average middle of the road types throughout time.

My hate for TPM has definitely assuaged over time. I mean, the movie is still pretty bad but I feel like it has a few things that make it worth a watch. My opinion on Attack of the Clones hasn't changed, though. I thought it was complete garbage in 2002 and still think that.

The hate Anakin and Jar Jars actors got was immense. Just look where the former is and it almost drove the latter to suicide. People were abhorrent to them both from the get go.

How are people defending the prequels as a good baseline? You can praisr the CGI, or the fights, or maybe the concepts in comparison to the sequels, but the movies themselves are trash and my 11 year old self knew it. Hell, how much was Darth Maul hyped up for him to be killedin one fight.

I saw the prequels around the time they came out. Half of Episode 1 was boring. The entirety of Episode 2 bored me to tears. (I can't remember a single thing about that movie.) Episode 3 was somewhat entertaining and unintentionally hilarious.

TFA may have been a retread of A New Hope and TLJ may have had dumpster-fire writing, but they were entertaining. About the only thing I'd give the prequels is they had a god-tier soundtrack.

The dialog is atrocious and the acting (quite possibly due to direction) is equally as bad. That's what really kills these movies. There's also a conspicuous overuse of green screen but I can forgive that.

Outside of those significant complaints, almost everything else about the PT is brilliant. The CGI holds up way, way better than anything else from that era. The music is as great as ever. The over all plot and world building are better than the OT, imho.

I like the prequels, no caveats full stop. The extra world building, Lucass entire point to making them, actually shines through better than anything TFA or TLJ puts out, in that department. Krait, CantoBite and the outpost Maz comes from are neat distractions, but the prequels have Genosis, Mustafar, space where Obi-Wan chases Jango, the senate, Naboo, need I go on? The world building in the prequels simply cannot be beat. Full stop

The Prequels were great stories that suffered from an overdose of Lucas. They seriously all read like first drafts, and could have turned out to be classics with a little more work.

I have seen every single Star Wars film in cinema at original release. Original trilogy was amazeballs. Prequel trilogy was shit. Force Awakens had an ounce of potential but Last Jedi shit all over that. I have no expectation that Ep 9 will be anything more than another CGI light show, and I dont really care.

That said, who cares? Theyre just fucking movies. The whole point was so that Godking George Lucas could get rich selling toys to kids. And now that hes cashed out, its there for Disney to add to its trophy case.

Star Wars fans take this shit wayyyyyy too seriously.
