It's Friday, which means BattleBots is back on the air for another night of metal-munching mayhem! Here's our fight card for tonight:



In our main event, the resurgent Hypershock takes on the defending BattleBots champion Bite Force! These two bots have met twice in the past, with Bite Force defeating Hypershock on its way to a championship on both previous occasions. Hypershock is looking more dangerous than it ever has before, but can they topple what has been the greatest obstacle in their path? Tune in tonight at 8PM on the Discovery Channel to find out!

I think my favorite part about that deep six gif is the puft of smoke. "and I'm spent"

Hope hypershock does better this time and doesn't get disemboweled instantly.

I'm going to be highly irresponsible and guess: Bite Force, Hydra, Yeti, Skorpios, Bronco,... dunno,... Copperhead I guess for the last fight on the card.

But any sort of malfunction or less-than-optimal tweak from the pits can ruin a bot's chances, so there will likely be upsets.

In a past season Warhawk's Warstop did fairly well. It's trick is to be loaded with a magnet on the bottom so it sticks to the floor. Then the wedge design can launch itself at other bots and lodge underneath them, potentially immobilizing them or possibly even burning out a motor if the other bot attempts to fight the magnetic grip.

Most bots today have such competent drive systems that they don't get high-pointed and interfered with by just a mini-bot. Undoubtedly there have been some times where the mini-bots helped in the past but I don't really remember any specifically. Usually the bots that would most benefit from interfering with another bot's movement, like spinners, have all their weight in the weapon and don't have the weight to spare to have them.

Nothing, really. They're mostly for show. There's only been one case of a flamethrower actually doing significant damage in this series.

I was pulling for Hypershock and hoping they could pull the upset, and they put up a hell of a fight, but Bite Force was still too much for them.

That sign of Paul V with glowing eyes in the crowd made it worth seeing Bite Force win again though.

Wow Yeti annihilated Rainbow. That was one of the most brutal KOs without any visible armor damage I've ever seen, everything caught on fire.

This is one of those moments I actually feel pretty bad for a bot. It's also possibly a good bit to slap onto some ED/male performance ad.

Of all the ways and things to fail, it just.. I assume it was a repair that didn't hold up.

Great episode. Hydra remains for real, but Bite Force still looks unbeatable. Monsoon is going to be a pile of scrap by the end of this, too, they just keep beating the crap out of that bot.

Got busy volunteering at a veteran's park. My union is donating the materials and labor on the electrical work. Missed tonight entirely and didn't even DVR it . Guess I'll catch the replay Wednesday.

There isn't one. The Science Channel re-runs don't start up again until sometime in the fall. So if you want to watch the episodes in a timely manner, you should probably set a series recording for the Discovery Channel showings.

There were a few surprises and some cool moments, but it wasn't as violent and brutal as last week. Overall, it was good though.

Chronos' long rod shaped one? i dunno, i wouldn't say it was all that useful. it bumped into Copperhead a couple times but the fight would have still gone basically the same without it...

If it weren't for Timeline (the minibot), Copperhead could have rushed Chronos and not let it spin up, and we have no idea how the fight would have gone had that rush succeeded. But the momentary distraction that Timeline provided was enough for Chronos to spin up to full power, and you saw what that full power hit did to Copperhead. So I can't agree with you when you say that the fight would have gone the same way without it.
