I own a couple of apartments that I rent out, right? I'm in the process of trying to rent out one that I recently finished remodeling. Facebook Marketplace, I recently started using, is one of the various platforms I use to market my rentals.

I put out together my ad for my remodeled apartment, get some nice pictures of the place, get a cute little description using words I would never actually use in real life (IE adorable), and throw it up there. Within a day, it has 300+ views and I have multiple people messaging me to come do a walkthrough. Great right?

Well, Facebook doesn't like this I guess, because about 23 hours or so after I've posted it, one of my prospective tenants messages me - "Hey, did you remove the listing?"

No. No I did not remove the listing. I check my Marketplace posting.

The fuck? Surely this must be a mistake. I skim through the community guidelines - don't do illegal shit, don't post deceptive or misleaing shit, don't fuck with people, etc. Nothing I've posted could even remotely be considered any of those things. I'll go ahead and request a review.

Okay, not ideal. People are messaging me about what happened to my posting. I guess I'm going to have to send them to a fucking different website. But whatever, algorithms make mistakes.

Hours later, I get a response to my review.

You're also talking about the website that consistently steals private user information - including information from people who don't even have Facebook accounts - and then sells it to third-parties without hesitation or notification.

These people don't give a fuck about you other than as data they can profit from. And even then you're only profitable as part of an amalgam, not in and of yourself. They have no real motivation to be fair, logical, rational, or helpful whatsoever. They know people are going to use their shit service anyway.

Facebook is a dumpster fire and I hope it dies. If these stupid see you next tuesdays would just tell me what the problem was, I wouldn't be upset. But instead, I guess I just keep reposting the same thing over and over again removing one letter at a time until they stop flagging it.

Which is exactly why I'm using it to begin with. People use their shitty service, so I have to bow down to their shitty service. If I didn't have a product to sell, I wouldn't touch this fucking thing.
