I went and saw my parents yesterday, and just before I left to go back home he just said oh btw Im going hospital tomorrow for some treatment then he sat me down and explained how hes got some blood plasma myeloma. Idk if hes just playing it down but he told me theres nothing to worry about and its not like other types of cancers and not to tell anybody else otherwise theyd worry unnecessarily without having full context of the situation.

But from everything Im hearing and reading online its terminal?

I just feel so sad. I dont wanna lose my dad man

My dad died of liver cancer. It sucks seeing somebody so strong basically turn into chocolate woman from spongebob as the weeks went on. (including bitchy attitude)

i'd cherish the time you have now, and make sure it doesnt go to waste if this could be his final months/years for sure.

Dude. I cant even begin to say how sorry I am. I hope your dad pulls through as this, Multiple Myeloma, is exactly what killed my father so many years ago.

So it is a terminal disease then? How long do they have to live?

I've lost many relatives to cancer, so I know what that's like. Take care.

Not necessarily. I misspoke when I originally posted. Apparently, even though my dad battled it for about two and a half years and lost, they've come a long way on this type of cancer and a lot of people are coming through well.

I was conceived when my dad was 62. He died a little over ten years later from prostate/bone cancer.

Everything about him became a legacy that guided many of my life choices.

But that's just what happened to me. How you feel about your relationship with your dad and what memories you have and what is coming next will be unique to you. Learn and cope, it's all we can do.
