My nephew found a Twitch stream recently that showed some user-made levels or maybe a full game based off of SM64 and now he's interested in watching more or maybe even finding out how to play them.

Please help me be a decent uncle. What could he have seen? What would you recommend from this type of category? Are these available for public download?

I used to be pretty into watching SM64 hacks. Most of them should be available for public download, but you'll have to play them via emulator on PC (as far as I'm aware).

I would suggest starting him out with SM64: Star Road which (to my knowledge) is the most popular/famous one and perhaps what he saw on Twitch. That one is a full game hack with completely changed levels and 120+ stars to collect. It should more than serve as a good introduction to SM64 hacks.

Some of the other hacks like SM64: Extreme Edition or any of the SM64: Star Revenge games are very exciting to watch but are unbelievably difficult and ultimately more tedious/frustrating than fun (in my opinion). Unless he's extremely skilled at SM64, I wouldn't recommend trying to play these until after Star Road at the very least.

Appreciate the feedback team! Getting him a N64 controller dongle now and the rest should be history.
