no, it's just a variable rate depending how many topics there are. to wit, it's roughly aimed so that there won't be more than ten pages of topics. pretty sure that the more topics you have the faster it gets, so slow boards like ours no longer have the breakneck purge rate of other boards

Song: I'm Back (to Rise!)
Game: Killer Instinct
Composer: Mick Gordon
Nominator: Pirateking2000
Score: 70 (3/4/2.6/4.4)

This is so hype music lmao. sounds like im walking down the runway in the WWE tournament but also its a commercial for the New Nintendo Switch 2020 in the b eginning and then he starts rapping and its a little less of that and more like a red bull ad and evertyhing is moving in slow motion.
i really enjoy listening to this and it is extremely fun to dance (read: headvbang :>) to even though there is like no song in there. haha.in terms of the lyrics, theyre not great. i especially dont like the rhyming of words with themselves in the chorus, but there are a couple of great verses with mid-line and multisyllabic rhymes. thosed sections have pretty original flow as well imo
the buildup back to the song after the breakdown at 4;11 is wonderful as well, mainly due to the melody in the backing and the Futurebass/IIDX esque sting walls happening at 4:48 LOL
overall i think its pretty neat!!

really honestly considering doing a reranking of all this stuff once i make it to the end bc my opinion of so much of this has shifted. but i will continue this set as is bc 1 i think its a snapshot of how i was listening to music when i started this and 2 the way i set up my data makes it pretty difficult to changve on the fly lol but this is also a snapshot as im much more effectively able to set that up now(Hopefully!!!) so my future is bright and sparkly.

I kinda expected Back to Rise to get dumped on during BOST, but I was cautiously optimistic there'd be people who really liked it. I'm not into rap/hip-hop at all, but I find it eminently listenable, maybe moreso than any other KI track.

Composer: Dai
Nominator: Zigzagoon
Score: 71 (3.4/4.8/2/4)

this song said to me. what if you were in church but also it was outside but the acoustics sounded like a bathroom but also theres phasers phasing
song desinged to replicate the sound of baroque compositions somewhat but doesnt feature counterpoint, instead features like 8 looping chords that change sometimes and have a regular rhythm, and a melody that doesnt remember the days of yole.
i really dont enjoy how the phasing sound sounds juxtaposed on the Classical in struments. maybe thats intentional? from SPOILERS THAT I READ IN COMMENT SECTION, there are death house maybe this is true and we are listening to that happen

song that sounds like its 2079 and every one has already died. the robots have taken over, the surface world is frozen over and the skies are darkened with smoke. youve just woken up from a cryogenic sleep you were put under during the panic of 2021, and youre experiencing how different the world is for the first time. intensely overdeveloped skyscrapers, some still standing, many fallen in ruin, litter the landscape. you see several electrical wires sparking in the distance. the remains of civilisation are clearly present, but it seems to have been gone for a long while now.

atonality and unpredictability in rhythm creates chaotic tension! very lovely. i am a big fan of music where i know what is going to happen but i dont really know, im just pretending to to make myself seem more knowledgeable. this is one such Prime Example. i could kind of realize/expect where the direction of the melody is turning..but not really!
another thing i like about this is how the second voice follows the main melodytaking its ideas and recontextualizing them as harmony, often in a question and answer format!! i think thats very music and maybe even a litle baroque

why you submitted extended link :(

this song pretty sounds like final battle. dont know what to say! the melody is lifted from earlier songs (a Classic Toby Fox Move)...which adds to the GRAVITAS of this piece! he also likes touhou so he makes it sound like touhou which works i guess
i do especially like the breakdown part at 1:36 before he goes all zunpetty! its a nice respite from the touhou battle theme: piano andguitar strums and bar starting percussion hit only( that also sounds like a part in a touhou battle theme)
What do i even say!!!!!! He did this on purpose!!!!!

Nominator: Zyzyx0
Score: 72 (2.6/4.4/3.4/4)

anticipation and tension rise in the song, drive into cool notes when the instrument that comes in at 0:02 stops doing blue notes at 0:18 and it becomes funky. ostinato that enters at 0:00 that is lovely. bass party that comes in at 0:18 is nice and albertish. i really like all the different small parts happening in the harmoniy that complement the main line. i like the section at 1:24 the most, the melodys resolution is something to me...

Composer: Sound Horizon
Nominator: Haste_2
Score: 72 (2.2/2.6/5/4.6)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEmLNOk87S4

starts out like a slice of life anime track and then kills everything for piano solo right on the crash at 0:07 which is really interesting and tasty imo. the piano solely introduces the melody, and after one chorus the other instruments come back in following it, and after another chorus a new section starts at 0:50 and that section is my favorite section because of the chords at 0:50 and 1:10 that are very nice and melancholy coloring to the song (this section overall really). and then after that it does a heroic melody which is ok but not that great.
i really enjoy the instruments this uses, the bass is really cool. actually i think the violins might be fake but they are done really well (sorry if they are live!!!!)

this song does the same thing of dance of the moon rabbits where there is a panning synth string that goes inside your ears

song that is going to make you cry even though i did not play the game!!! it is just #gamemusic #beautiful #relaxingvgmtostudyslashgotosleepto10hoursmix song
though that is maybe all it is. a very nicely instrumentationized version of an already lovely piece. which is cool and good i just dont have a lot of things to say about it! i do like how theres pizzicato strings a lot and how different instruments get the melody andharmony at diffferent places sometimes removing certain harmonizations and/or replacing them with others, how it artificially creates movement in the piece without changes to the melody and breaking from the integrity of the original song

COOL REMIX OF THE THEME OF THE DEDEDE! I Really like what it does to it here.switching up the rhythm of it and juxtaposition of different parts of it on top of each other, fragmenting the melody into harmonization...i also like how at 0:27 it introduces a new melodic theme to distinguish itsel;f. my favorite part of the song is the section built on the minor 2nd at 0:40 into the chromatic chord walkup at 0:52...builds back into the original melody. its a really cool example of you how can take a song as source material but spice it up entirely into its own thing imo! a little short though :(

the instrumentation in this is some of the best in the entire nomset it hink.really love the natural intensity the clash of different sound s bring. i also enjoy how fragmented parts are reused and recontextualized often in this, often creating new tensions between parts that didnt previously interact...its very floaty! which is a good music feeling. i think ive gained more an appreciation for this kinda of music post ranking settle, so this is severely underranked maybe..unfortunately..

and then it becomes DOOM!!! the funny doom instrument and it does the things 0:39. i like the melody after it..its also harmonized quite well in my opinion! i like what the bottom line does wheen the main melody is sustaining notes, very groovalicious
the solo is not that good i think except when it goes int o 16ths but i say that every time somebody solos

classic final fantasy video game music moment
this is music i think is pretty not sounding like an island at all. i think it sounds like your inside of the big space science lab that has ambiguity regarding its good/evil alignment but is portrayed in a positive light at this point in the story
i like the parts a lot wher it does not go Wub Wub especially 1:46 because thats got fake strings which make the song sound a lot more Contemporary Uplifting Emotional stock music but its cooler because theres actually chords and ostinato happening yeah another thing i like the synthy ostinato a lot...1:28 is also cool but a lot graver because of the removal of any backing aside from scary bass and dissonant bell on the first downbeat of everymeasure
compared to the ffx hd remake version...i like this better! that one is a lot more melancholy which i appreciate but this is more pleasant to listen to

Nominator: pyresword
Score: 80 (2.8/4.2/4.2/4.8)

replaced link as it was privated

love love LOVE the introo on dis baby it sells the intensity so hard while rolling back into a lyrical section setting the tone for the rest of the piece as well as having the quarter eighth quarther eighth quarte egith pattern at the end of it so yeah i like that a lot and i also like how it happens in th song so its a MOTIF like at 0:53
also think how cool it is how much this song modulates to different keysand uses a lot of ncts while still maintaining a sense of unity as a piece and theyr all DIRECT modulations too without pause wtf.
i like the drum beatat this part 2:50

THE START OF THIS IS SO WEIRD..ITS LIKE THE BEEPING SETS UP ONE RHYTHM PASTTERN AND THEN WHEN THE DRUM BEATS COME IN THEY ABSOLUTELY DESTROTTERS IT??? Ike i have NO idea whats happening i love it. rest of the song holds with that off kilter constant rhythm with the synth lines hitting on offbeats and the beeping constantly on the 2 beat where before it had set on 1...cool stuff like this throughout is what GETS me about musicking

Song: Chou (Butterfly)
Game: Fatal Frame II
Composer: Tsukiko Amano
Nominator: Raka_Putra
Score: 81 (3/4.8/4.4/4)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zw7FyjOb43c

the beginning of this is super cool and sets me up for what this song is NOT.i really enjoy the percussive instrumentation and the creepy tone it sets. which is initially echoed by the strings but then they do this thing thing where they go into more likemovie-like chords??idk its weird and then it shifts again at 0:30 where they trill into the addition of a drum kit and guitar which really changes the mood to like.soft rocky type of sound
i initially called the sound of the guitar "is this the red hot chili peppers or j-rock math rock???"which i still think
the chord at 1:12 is really cool,
once it gets into 1:34 and the chorus i lose a bit of the vibe of it...it becomes more like a *real song* and i dont dig that as much with this song just bec of how much i love the other parts. i do really like how it falls back into the better sounding sections
the solo at 3:35 is absolutely of the one best parts of the song despite sounding similar to the chorus idk why

Song: Green Fields
Game: Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom
Composer: Kobayashi Keiki
Nominator: Nameless2000
Score: 81 (2.4/4.8/5/4)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bw1p3kXMOCg

apparently i initially said that this sounds like sonic and atelier. what i probably meant by this is its a major key melody focused track orchestrated with a rock band + strings and brass sections. probably was referring specifically to sonic colors or unleashed or something.
this song is amazing because it starts with funny voice babappvbap singers who are happy and then the melody line is in a violin and trumpet and acoustic guitar and then it gets taken by an electric guitar and i are still like ok, that makes sense tonally to falsely create movement in the song BUT THEN at 1:32 what youd normally expect is for the song to loop but instead it goes into a fucking minor sixth chord that modulates to a relative minor (?????idk) and then ace attorney objection theme and then an ELECTRIC electric guitar solo that is the most unexpected thing to be thrown into this happy song and is super like cool peoples main theme song and then it drags me back out into the happy zone and i fall on the floor overtaken by a wave of babpabpabpabpabpas

Song: proud-dust
Game: Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Composer: xaki
Nominator: loweffortmemes
Score: 82 (3.2/4.6/4.6/4)
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idJLgN2Pu0I

this song sounds like baldr heart innocence and emptiness
besisdes it actually like sounding like that what i mean is that it has a really slow start and ramps up into insanity and organs solos until it breaks down which is another cool part
i really like how this sounds. similar to the atelier track from mycro i like how it utilizes repetition and offsets different pieces though ieere i think its mostly from delay that its able to give that effect
the solo is actually amazing god

beginning of this song be like ace combat
beginning of this song be like xenoblade x
beginning of this song be like a movie
beginning of this song be like astral chain
beginning of this song be like inspirational short about the future but from the 2000s not the 1960s
the coolest part of this song is 1:06 the sounds in that part and then how it becomes an orchestra and christopher tins civilzation 4, really makes me feel like its time to go on the Heros Journey and follow the 12-step program to return to the established status quo
