Saw it on Saturday in 70mm with my wife and we're already planning to see it again

Everything in the movie feels so perfectly executed

The flamethrower was some of the best set-up and payoff I've seen

Also went to see it Saturday and it's excellent

and both the flamethrower and the crash through the glass door leading up to it had pretty much the entire theater sobbing with laughter

so good

I also loved the flashback where it's not really made clear it's a flashback until it cuts back to Cliff on the roof.

"Fair enough."

Good movie, but I didn't like the Sharon Tate parts much. Maybe it works better for people who know more than I do about 60's-era Hollywood, but that whole plot just felt really disconnected from everything else in the movie. Obviously it's supposed to be building tension for the Manson Family killings at the end, but that didn't really work for me because I was pretty sure going in that this would be an "alternate history" thing.

I agree, I think they should have expanded on the Tate stuff or not had it at all

Overall movie was great though

I feel like the Sharon Tate stuff was fine. It probably could have been expanded a bit, but it worked pretty well showing her as an up-and-coming excited new celebrity contrasted against Rick.

Just saw it last night and I loved it.

The one thing about the movie I didn't really get was its portrayal of Bruce Lee

I mean I get the portrayal of him as boastful, but the movie plays him off as basically a weakling

Well it was from Brad Pitt's pov, so who knows if it actually played out that way

Bruce Lee was overrated, but people like tales of legends. IRL Bruce Lee was basically the same as the lore of Jaime Lannister. Both solidly skilled, but hyped beyond belief, and their egos added to it.

I think the Bruce Lee scene touches on what alot of people nowadays think - Bruce Lee wouldn't be worth anything in MMA or the UFC.

He sure as hell wouldn't be able to knockdown Ali, atleast IMO.

Saw it last night. Great movie; probably his second or third best.

You sure could tell that Tarantino has a foot fetish, though!

main thing to remember is that Brad Pitt represents a bunch of real life stunt doubles.
for that scene it's likely referencing Gene Lebell's little skirmish with him when he was working as a stunt double for a movie and proceeded to dominate Bruce Lee via headlocks and a fireman carry.

from there the rest is just taking liberties by changing the fight style and making his opponent a former Green Beret instead of a judo master.

I thought it was pretty good but nothing more

I like it as a fantasy in which Sharon Tate lives and so does her baby and all that. There's a sweetness to that. But there's a lot of stuff there that wasn't necessary and also wasn't entertaining. It was still good fun, tied together by the ending. There was a lot in the first half I could have done without. Overlong perhaps.

It's super nerdy, but I just kept thinking "Bruce Lee IRL said repeatedly he'd never do a flying kick in an actual fight because it's dumb easy to counter"
