That was a phenomenal movie. Finally watched it the day after seeing Far From Home. Thought it was better

My only gripe really being that I wasn't able to buy his BS story because I already knew he was the bad guy and kept waiting for the reveal. (And no I didn't watch/listen to/read spoilers. He's... just a bad guy in the stuff so...)

I heard they actually considered having him not be the bad guy. That would have actually been a twist and made me rethink assumptions like that in the future.

It was a great experience for me because I didnt know much about Mysterio. And Gyllenhaal did such a great job portraying a confident / cool guy for the first half. I knew hed be a villain somehow but I thought hed just turn evil throughout the movie. I did not expect his twist

That could have been done awesomely, like if there were TWO Mysterio...

Just watching the trailers made it clear he is regardless. That's why I felt the new spider-man film was flat. The Elementals are cool but even they couldn't save this one.

I didn't watch the trailers, but I read the original comics and pretty much knew what was up....but not 100%, there was like a doubt in the back of my mind that he was from an alternate universe where mysterio was actually a good guy.

But yeah, I wasn't surprised.

Thought the move was ok. I did like into the spiderverse better honestly and have never been a miles moras fan really, so that is shocking.

Not sure what it is, but I feel like it has gotten away from the original spiderman at this point. Too much tech, avengers stuff for one, and the ending (After the trailer) is messed up etc. Like the humor and witticisms during fights etc, but as I have said before, this parker seems too young to me...more like a junior high school student then someone just about to graduate HS or start college. More ultimate spiderman then original.

Shrug, still good, worth watching, but maybe I just can't be satisfied with any spiderman *sigh*.

I mean it was possible given the Skrulls in Captain Marvel. But eh.

I'm just impressed that they turned a predictable plot into an excellent movie.

Agree to disagree there...They were just holograms and drones. Not anything particularly of substance IMO

I'm not talking about how the film made them. I'm just talking about them in general. It was still nice to have them included even if it was a shit way of doing it. The worse will always be Venom in Spider-Man 3 though.

I mean, the elementals were just flat out plain totally stupid enemies lol.

Spoilers.

Seriously they only need access to their own elements to get stronger, why would they attack inhabited places? Why would the fire elemental (Which needed metal for some reason), not just get it from the freaking earth, which came out of? Or just go directly to the core etc?

They made no sense, were one dimensional, and the methods used to defeat them were silly.

Fire could have been used to destroy or weaken the water one, sure.....that wasn't done though. Hyrdo was way harder then the elemental to defeat for instance.

Air? How the heck do you defeat an air elemental? I mean, sufficate it makes the most sense, enclose it and cut it off and yeah, that would probably do it.

Fire? Again snuff it with water (which peter did a tiny bit), but the whole battle was silly.

So was the level of illusion done in this case, especially considering it was not just sight, but sounds as well. There is only so much you could do with drones etc. I guess they got around spiderman not sensing stuff by his tingle not working.....but you can't just have an illusion of the battle, the damage has to stay the same after it etc.

Still liked the movie though.

They could be done justice in a Captain Marvel sequel.
