I have four even though my income isn't the greatest.

Depending on their current cash back offers is the one I tend to use most for the month.

So yeah, if you're not in debt, sign up for another.

Just make sure it has no annual fees just to have it.

I'm 35 and I have 1. I'm not in debt, employed full time, and have plenty saved. I don't see a point in getting another. Your needs may vary, but I don't see the point in multiple ones.

I see the point in something like a credit card and American Express or something. Use the American Express for a proxy debit card, and rake in rewards.

it is not about the number of cards. It is about the credit limit they provide you.

If you have 5 cards with a 5k limit, you have 25k credit. If you have 2 cards with 20k limit you have 40k credit, the latter is better

Chase - 5% on Amazon purchases.

Discover - 5% on groceries.

PayPal - Six months interest free.

Mastercard - 5% on Walmart purchases.

There's others that are similar as well.

I usually get about an extra $30 a month using these in combination and somehow it still improves my credit score.

32, six-figure income, one credit card, zero debt. I have absolutely no interest in adding any other cards.

My philosophy is to treat credit cards like a checking account - nothing is bought if I couldn't make the payment right then and there on my debit card. The only cards I'm into are those that offer travel rewards as I feel they offer the best value per dollar spent.

So long as your willining and able to, paying off all your credit card purchases everytime, every month, makes interest a non issue. You shouldn't be buying anything you couldnt afford on your debt anyways, you profit off the rewards, boost your credit score and so own. Theres actually little to no down sides if you have self control.

My current job doeasnt give many opportunities but the first chance I get I'm going to apply for the card that offers 5% back at restaurants. Since I at those very often.

You should always have at least two in case one fails you for whatever reason (reader malfunction, bank locks it for suspicious activity, etc)

A third is optional for sure and might help your score. But instead of going for a generic card, there's other ways to boost the "revolving" category of your credit. Like a personal line of credit which usually offers lower interest than a card.

If youre not carrying a balance or paying interest you should get a second card. Just avoid annual fees and there is literally no downside.

In the short term your credit will take a hit due to the hard check, but in the long term you will benefit from your number of accounts, low credit usage, and overall higher credit limit.

Credit is a long term game. Im 32 and have three cards, and will likely get a fourth by the end of the year. Just avoid carrying balances and annual fees and youll keep going up.

Edit: Just to clarify, annual fees dont hurt you but theyre a waste of money imo.
