If my wife did that and refused to stop, I would divorce her before the medical bills came in, not even kidding. Thats ridiculous. People complain about not having adequate healthcare in the US, and this is an example of why that wouldnt work yet even if it was properly managed. It's ignorant if you don't know better, but it's stupidity once you know you shouldn't do that. That kind of negligence puts a strain on relationships and resources. --- Working in a team is great! I even avoid sweets that I loved eating. I probably should cut down drinking Tea with Sugar in it too. They'd order fast food and order several value meals to eat (each) with their diet cokes to drink. On the rare occasion they ate salad, they'd dump almost the whole bottle of dressing into the bowl, making it more like soup than sald and vastly increasing the calories My cousin passed away from cancer (unrelated to her health as shocking as that is) but her husband is still alive. Or what's left of him. No left leg, part of right foot is gone with no toes left because of the bad diabetes. Blind in one eye as too. Cirrhosis of the liver but too obese to get a transplant. Did the stomach "sleeve" surgery but he didn't cooperate with it so it ended up expanding back to the normal size It's sad but he had so many chances to fix things.
