Depends on how much you care about appreciating the vidya equivalent of archaeology. In a historic context, it's mightily impressive. It had graphics that wouldn't be around for a whole generation after.

I played it for a few days in Xbox because it's free, and man alive is it boring. Impressive for it's time, no doubt, but boring as hell. Just walking and talking with eh occasional QTE, and bad Voice Acting.

IIRC Shenmue was the first game to use QTE that I can recall. At least in my experience. If it wasn't the first it was pretty close. Amazing concept at the time. Not sure how it's aged but I'd give it a shot.

I went through the games when they released last September and they're still very playable. Some aspects -- like tank controls, rough voice acting, and the time limits -- won't be for everyone. There's also some graphical/sound bugs that weren't fixed. Still, if you never played the games way back when, and don't want to shell out for copies on Dreamcast/Xbox, you've nothing to lose.
