If you choose jail, you will serve a full year in a county jail. Afterward you will get your current job or school placement back. Your conviction will remain public record. If you choose McDonald's, you will work as a cook or cashier or janitor for the next 10 years at minimum wage. You will not be given a raise or a promotion. You may not take any other jobs or enroll in any schools while you work for MCD. Your hours will be 29.5 hours per week, so you will not receive health insurance through MCD. Which would you choose? --- September 1, 2003; November 4, 2007; September 2, 2013 Congratulations to DP Oblivion in the Guru Contest! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Seeing as I've already worked at McDonald's for two years, I choose McDonald's over jail. Because it's fucking jail. My experience was great. I guess it depends which country you're in.

Will the going to jail for a year have work release or will I lose my current job and come out a year later with my credit wrecked, house lost, car lost, and trying to find a job with my record which will probably not let me find decent work?

Purely based on income, losing 1 year is worse than losing 10 years. So jail is the correct choice.
Unless this is some crazy genie warping question, where I literally can't be fired while working at McDonalds because I chose it, and I'm forced to keep going there no matter what I do. That could be fun to live in a world without repercussion for 10 years. --- Bells, bells, bells! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Then 1 year in jail. Sure, I will probably come out in bankruptcy and massive debt. But, I might be able to defer my mortgage for a year or get someone to cover my loan payments for a year til I get out. Then I will make more in one year than I can in the next 9 at McDonald's probably. McDonald's would be a slow burn to bankruptcy unless I could get my s/o to get a job also. Can't imagine anything more depressing then slowly going into bankruptcy and my child suffering from it for most of his childhood. --- Xbox Live User Name - Corrik Currently playing: Division 2 ... 10 years at mcdonalds and it's pretty close.
As it is, it's a pretty big pay cut, but washington minimum wage is still livable with my mortgage, plus I'm getting a crap ton of extra hours a week that I can work on personal projects, and further my education at a faster clip than I currently am. --- SantaRPG: Turning "i"s into "l"s since 2008! https://imgur.com/c9koh ... 29.5 hours x 7.25 x 52 = 11,121.50 a year salary. Lol.

McDonald's.
Life wouldn't be great, but from what I understand, jail is hell on earth. McDonald's actually provides a few small benefits for their employees (free food, some places offer discounts on shopping), you get privacy during your off hours (you get none in jail), and there are ways to get discounted medical treatment if you happen to live near a hospital (I know this firsthand from my time being unemployed). ...
