11. Scott Pilgrim vs the World - 2010

Despite Michael Cera being awful, this movie was a complete blast. The second half felt a bit rushed. Great casting on the evil exes.

Eww. Movie is awful and I've given it multiple chances. Assuming you love the source material?

scott pilgrim is pretty good.

i've never understood the common "SCOTT SHOULD HAVE GONE FOR KNIVES NOT RAMONA" complaint. i thought the whole point of the movie was that while knives is cute and sweet, scott realizes that she's also kind of bland and uninteresting and not someone he wants to be in a relationship with.

I like to assume Seinfeld is the same universe as UHF and Kramer is living off his riches as Stanley Spadowski

The Ewoks really aren't that bad. The stuff at Jabba's palace is fun. Also the ALMIGHTY SARLACC!

7. South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut - 1999

Some of the best songs in movie history. This was a beautiful piece of work. It makes me sad that South Park has gotten so awful.

Also how it never got another movie is weird to me. Brian Boitano would make a second movie.

Wayne's World is still so good. It perfectly captures that weird span of like 3 years for Gen Xers that just came and went from 1989-1991. When you think about the 80s, you think "Stranger Things"-like culture or the Breakfast Club and other John Hughes films. But those few years existed in this weird vacuum with almost no antecedent and then disappeared off the face of the Earth when grunge hit. That's what Wayne's World preserves.

And on a separate thought, is there a single person in comedy more important for those of us born in the late 80s than Mike Myers? I grew up with Wayne's World, Austin Powers was the dominant meme generator in middle school before memes were really a thing, and Shrek was one of the biggest film franchises of my youth.

Shrek 1 was sorta a thing in my age group, the others were once we were too old.

But yeah, Austin Powers was SO quoted at school from like Grade 7 on

6. Monty Python and the Holy Grail - 1975

I am a huge fan of dry British comedy as well as the absurd silliness. John Cleese's ability to be a complete moron with a straight face and look like he is in fact not the moron, you must be. This movie is infinitely quotable, has some unbelievable delivery of lines. The rabbit caught me off guard so much the first time.

The best so bad its good movie ever? Maybe. This movie is so god awful in the most fun kind of way. There is zero good acting here.

Holy heck was this insanely funny the first time I saw it. I had crying fits of laughter several times. The fight scene nearly killed me. This movie along with Simpsons quotes was basically my entire vocabulary for years.

Can't say I'm a fan of certain movies being ahead of The Dark Knight and The Empire Strikes Back but hey it is what it is. The Avengers movies never rose above being movies that accomplish what they set out to do and little else to me, but I understand fanservice is part of the point with them.

I saw Independence Day for the first time in 2017 and found it pretty boring TBH, although not really bad so much as just dull. I get the appeal but still, wow. The whole film felt like dead air after the aliens arrived.

doug walker had a theory that the late '90s were kind of shit for mainstream blockbusters and therefore we overrated the crap out of movies from that era that were actually merely decent (like, say, men in black). i certainly think there's some truth to that, and independence day is a good example. it's a fun popcorn movie but it's so dumb >_>

I think people remember Independence Day fondly for a number of reasons. For me, I'll always appreciate it for being a completely original blockbuster I.P., which we literally never see anymore.

2. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith - 2005

Hello there.

'Did you ever hear the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise? I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. It's ironic he could save others from death, but not himself.'

This entire movie is one gigantic meme. It makes me so happy. Every line is perfect. The delivery is perfect. Everything in this will never be topped in another Star Wars movies.

I saw a security hologram of him... killing younglings.
