Since the TI-99/4A is a home computer, my first console was the NES I bought from my cousin. It came with SMB/DH, Baseball Stars, and Ninja Gaiden.

Well my dad had an Atari and Pong(among other games I assume) but that probably doesn't count.

The first console my parents bought for me was an NES, which came with SMB1.

SNES is the one mainstream console I unfortunately never owned.

You can find a SNES online or at a flea market fairly cheap. It's the games that might set you back some, depending on the titles

The first one I consider actually owning because I was the one who bought it was a ps1. The first game I bought for it was twisted metal.

Mine was either a GBA or a PS2, I don't remember which :P We had NES, N64, Gamecube and a Gameboy Color as well, but it was my older brother who owned those. I did play on them quite frequently though. The GBA and PS2 was a gift, as well as my DS. The first one I bought myself was a Wii.

I had a TRS-80 but might have had the atari-2600 before that (Can't remember which came first). Had an activision game system as well...that might have been before the atari (think that was the one with pong on it?).

Hard to remember honestly. Early games I remember are things like combat/pitfall/metroidvania etc, for the Atari. On computers the earliest game I really remember at this point is Wizardry Proving grounds of the mad overlord...which was amazing at the time.

There really isn't anything like that for people anymore, it was a whole new genre, a new world, the first RPG really, no internet, no real instructions, you had to figure out what the spells did yourself, and it was huge (and a blast).

Now everything has been around forever, you are pretty much given all the information when playing a game, and even if your not, there is the internet to look things up etc. A game like Wizardry would probably bore most people today, or they would go to a wiki and read everything about it and not need to play it even, or just zoom through it.

It's actually kind of sad....it was so magical back then, everything was so new.

It wasnt (aside for the Genesis) a very popular system...and it always seemed to lag behind in the next gen console wars; anytime SEGA thought they had a leg up on the next gen console wars, another one (SNES, PSX, PS2) came along and blew it out the water

Hell, I didn't even know SEGA had a home console (only knew the arcade games) until I went to visit my cousin up north and played his Master System

PC if it counts. "Game" is debatable, since I had two programs called "Playroom" and "Kid Works." I later got actual games, Reader Rabbit and Commander Keen (the first thing that would really qualify).

PC aside, Game Boy and Super Mario Land (Tetris too obviously, but I rarely played it in those days).

My Aunt had one and it was collecting dust in her closet and she gave it to us younger kids to play. I remember it having bootleg/clone versions of games like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Pong, etc...I do remember it having a somewhat cool cowboy one on one western type game (forgot the name of it)

It wasn't a bad system; just most of the games were rip-offs of more popular IPs
