This is a topic to rate the contest strength of potential newcomers in the current contest environment.

I will pick the characters to rate and discuss for each day from user nominations - whoever the 3 most nominated characters are at that time. If there are more than 3 I will pick randomly. You can nominate any number of characters at any time, but you cannot nominate the same character twice.

All characters who were present in the 2018 Character Battle will NOT be eligible. Otherwise you can nominate any character that has appeared in video games; even comic book characters. This will exclude real-life athletes who have only appeared in long running sports series, however I will accept those who have their own games such as Shaq. I will accept nominations for iconic gaming duos too, if both members of said duo are named in the title of a game (Banjo-Kazooie, Sam & Max Hit the Road, etc).

Each day will have a separate topic, and nominations will carry over. As far as actually rating the character's contest strength; I ask that users rank a characters potential strength with one of the following qualifiers - LAW Fodder, Low Fodder, Mid Fodder, High Fodder, Fodder Line, Low Midcarder, Midcarder, High Midcarder, Near Elite, Elite, LAW Tier (capable of beating Link). I will average all the ratings given to a character to come up with their final ranking. I have included a highlighted entrant from Character Battle X on each tier of the strength rankings below, to provide a baseline for each.

Also I am introducing the LAW (Low Ass Weak) Fodder rating starting this round. This rating is reserved for characters that would make a regular Low Fodder character look good. In order to prevent overuse of the tier, all ratings for that character must be LAW Fodder in order to place them into that tier. If any rating for that character is Low Fodder or better, their final ranking will never be LAW Fodder.

Please also note that this round (and only this round), I will be allowing LAW Fodder tier votes for all characters currently ranked as Low Fodder. I will require 3 votes to make the move for a character. Specific callouts to Gabrielle Espinoza, Dangerous Ariana and Kyle Hyde - who seemed to be the weakest entrants judging by ratings on their respective days.

Bass - High fodder. Not sure where Protoman is right now but probably fodder line. Bass being a little bit weaker makes sense.

Genie - Fodder line I think? Maybe even a low (low low low low) midcarder? I think he could be fairly decent for a Disney character

I think I have to sit on MJ for a bit.

I think at this point Bass is Mid Fodder, I don't know if anyone cares about Bass atm. I think he'd be significantly weaker than Proto Man.

I personally thought that Cayde-6 was the best example for Low Fodder. His weakness was a bit more apparent than Estelle or Monokuma.

If we were keeping a single Low Fodder tier, I would agree. With two tiers, however, I would say Cayde-6 is right on the border between Low Fodder and LAW Fodder (to me, under 10% on Base Link), so I don't think he fits as an example of either tier.

Bass: High Fodder; he's not exactly the most beloved or well-remembered Mega Man character, so I agree that he would be significantly weaker than Proto Man, though I would say the latter is a Low Midcarder.

Genie: Fodder Line seems like the safe bet.

I'm also undecided on Michael Jackson.

Agree with High Fodder for Bass; I see him being as strong as Rush.

Agree with Fodder Line for Genie. He's a well-loved and iconic character, but never had that big of a role in the games.

I can only guess at Michael Jackson, but I'm going to say Fodder Line. He is one of the most iconic performers of all time and Moonwalker is a well-received game. I think the joke votes and anti-votes will largely cancel each other out. Younger voters may not have any connection to his music though, which prevents him from fully clearing the fodder line.

I also agree with putting Gabrielle Espinoza in the LAW Fodder category. I think Ariana and Kyle Hyde have just enough going for them to be regular low fodder.

note that I moved Gabrielle Espinoza to Law Fodder. I didn't get a third for her move like I was wanting, but it seemed evident during her day that people thought her to be one of the weakest possible characters for a contest.
