3DS, but without the 3D functionality.

My old GBA SP. Made bussing to work and school much more bearable for me in the early 2000s.

Either the GBA-SP or the 3DS. If pressed, probably the GBA-SP since it had a library I liked more and is a more compact system, not to mention the battery life is better. The DS doesn't really have any advantages that that the 3DS doesn't, except maybe slightly better battery life.

Accidentally voted for the GB =x Was looking at that first Mario title topic and was still thinking first when I opened this topic.

I voted DS, but its very close between that and 3DS.

Also, Id categorize Switch as a handheld.

DS lite: a few great and unique games like TWEWY and Soma Bringer, unlike the 3DS which only had four good PSP games standing out in a vast sea of trash.

I'm glad to see the Pokemon Mini mentioned, Nintendo's smallest ever cartridge-based system, a keychain-sized marvel with a tiny but sharp b&w screen, motion sensor, IR link, D-pad, A, B, Start, and a single shoulder button.

Hard to choose between the 3ds and Ds. Both libraries are great and are similar in terms of quality imo.

The 3ds has backwards compatibility with the DS, while the DS has backwards compatibility with the the gba.

I can't choose between them.

The only handheld I've owned is the original 1989 Game Boy, so voted that.

The GBA-SP for me. No gimmicks, just games, and it felt good in my hands. There's always been something about the other handhelds that felt off in my hands.

I dislike them all equally.

GBA. Had the best fire emblem on it, three good Castlevanias, and a lot of really good ports.

GBA is my favorite and the handheld I have the most games for. I think near 100 complete in box games, and like 30 ish cart only.

Yes the DS and DS lite play GBA games but the image is smaller and doesn't look as good as the GBA SP ags-101.

Did not include the switch since I wanted to only include handhelds that had a primary function of being portable only.

I wish I could play my DS/3DS games on my GBA SP. The screen is so much better than my 3DS and so is the battery life.

Not really. There's a world of difference between "I don't care about any of these things" and "These things are all objectively terrible and anyone who likes them is an idiot who should feel bad about themselves."

Like it or not, there are plenty of reasons why someone might not like handheld systems. And that even applies to the Switch, even if you want to try and say "No no, it's totally a console" just because you can dock it. Especially if someone has no real interest in Nintendo's first party titles.

At the time, the GBA SP model was pretty much the ultimate thing. First of their lit screens (even if not really "true" backlighting just yet), first time they used a nice clamshell design to protect itself with, and other nice features including the backwards compatibility. Which nowadays, makes it a good pair with a 3DS since that one can handle the BC for the DS era.

At the time, the DS was pretty good too though. I actually liked the original "tank" model for that one, honestly. The less boxy shape actually made it feel better in the hands, even if it was less compact.

Heck. If the New XL model of the 3DS happened to also have the shape of the tank-DS (or phat, if we go by this poll?), then it would honestly be epic. For me, anyway.

At the other end though? You still really have to hand it to the original Gameboy. That thing maintained its relevance for a remarkably long time, all things considered. Also, there are all the legends about how durable the thing is. Even if it does require normal batteries (you can use rechargable AAs of course these days but still).

I only use my smart phone as a phone. I don't even have it connected to my email. Oh, I do use it for 2 factor authentication. Forgot I had to do that recently.

I am one of those people. I've never really felt the need to game on the go. Games are to be played at home for me. If I'm out doing things I'm taking a break from games. If I ever bought a Switch I'd just be buying it for the console side of things rather than the portability too. I do however still own a PSP.

Thought about this, my reasoning is that the GBC had better graphics and full color, it still had the same button configuration as regular Game Boy.
