I'm pretty sure I ranked Gaius toward the middle last time by the end of CS1, too. I still really like him! Cold Steel has a pretty strong cast, and some characters moved up from CS1, as well as CS2 introducing some good ones.

Boo at CS3 delay. On one hand this all but ensures that CS2 + Three Houses for me won't end up running over time... but that risk was always pretty low IMO. But assuming the extra time is to polish things up/they weren't ready, then better they take the time. IIRC, the first ~30 minutes gameplay video that some outlet had that I watched a week or two ago I noticed a discrepancy between the subtitles and the voicing over a nickname for a character that bugged me. Mostly because the subtitle version seemed silly IMO whereas the voicing got a much better one.

So if it's fixing stuff like that, cool.

My CS2 character ranking would be pretty different too, yeah. Biggest changes would be Laura, Emma, Claire much lower relatively and Fie, Crow, Alfin, and Alisa higher.

Duvalie best Ouroboros/Noble Alliance-aligned though and it's not even close.

CS2's Prologue and Intermission are definite highpoints in the game. Roer mission (Act 2-2, I think) also great.

Finally started CS2 (again) got almost to the end of the Prologue.

Yeah so it turns out what happened there was that they put the character's nickname in the French version in the subtitles for the English script.

If you're wondering how this is even possible, then clearly you haven't had sufficient experience with NISA.

(fwiw I'd give their translation of the prologue a 7/10, which is a solid "good.")

I really like Echoes. It removes all of the aspects about Fire Emblem that give me decision paralysis.

Yeah, user SaveEstelle has said the voice work of the main villain in particular has been excellent. He said he's almost up to Albedo levels, which is high praise from him.

So as someone who hasn't played a Fire Emblem game (or an SRPG that isn't FFT in general) before, is there a recommended one to start with? Should I just wait for Three Houses?

Seems like you could probably jump into Three Houses cold and be okay. If you were interested in trying one before 3H comes out, Awakening is probably the best entry point.

Awakening, 7 (the first GBA one), and seemingly 3H are the best entry points.

Three Houses looks extremely promising though, so you might as well start there when it's out next week.

I'd add Path of Radiance to the entry points list. PoR > FE7 > Awakening in that regard IMO. Three Houses probably works too and since it's only a week away you might be best off just waiting for it.

Well, connected in an important way that would require playing previous games. Strictly speaking, most of them are connected loosely, just in like different continuities. FE1, FE2, FE3, and Awakening all take place in the same world (though Awakening is thousands of years in the future so it's not important). FE4 and FE5. FE6 and FE7 (7 is a prequel tho and doesn't rely on knowledge from 6.) FE9 and FE10. FE11 and FE12 are remakes of 1 and 2 so yeah... So really only FE8 and Fates (and 3H) are on islands by themselves.

Almost at the end of CS2 1-1 (I'm back in Ymir for the rest day.) I see what people meant by the Pro slowdown in places. It seems particle effects or whatever just ruin its day a bit. So far that has basically meant "places where the higher elements are active" so Lunaria Nature Park, Terra Shrine, and whenever Vita was astral projecting herself into Ymir lol. Game runs at like 20 FPS there. Whatever though. I can just tell Legram is going to be hell though. >_>

I've heard this is the case but I haven't personally tried hunting down a copy. Ike's games are good too. So if you find a way to play Path of Radiance there's no problem with starting with it (Radiant Dawn is a direct sequel so you need to play Path of Radiance first).

You just about have to pirate PoR, yeah. That's part of why I didn't list it as a good entry point. Both Ike games are super expensive.

AoT S3E9: Well, uh, that had some reveals. Not sure what to make of some of them though!

This may have been more clear in the Japanese airing given where Toonami threw in their ad break, but was Eren hallucinating Armin in the cell with him during the first part of his story? I assumed he was, since after the commercial ended it cut to Hange/Levi/Armin on the outside and it sounded like Hange was reacting as if she was speaking right after Eren mentioned the Attack Titan but given the hard ad break it wasn't 100% clear.

Or was that real and it was just Eren repeating the story for Hange and Levi after originally telling Mikasa and Armin (who was chilling in the cell because he's a friend)
