Considering that Richard Pryor was once a huge name, I'm a *little* surprised to hear people be like, "Who dat?"

Richard Pryor wasn't around back when dinosaurs were fighting cavemen in Cadilliacs, but nice try.

The children of today are cultureless philistines who think the world didn't exist before the mid 1990s, so this is not entirely surprising.

Hey man. The world revolves around them in an ever-changing orbit so are you truly surprised?

Nope, not until the erb battle. Why is it so weird? Not everyone has the same interests.

I checked his imdb page and i haven't seen any of his movies or shows. It looks like he stopped acting in 1999 which is around the time I was getting more heavily into anime more than western media anyway.

As for him as a comedian, I'm not into stand-up comedy in general. My friends who like stand-up never brought him up at any point that I can remember.

It's one of those movies that you can't imagine would get greenlit today or, at the very least, the races would have been switched so that they wouldn't have a white man "buying" a black man for his child's plaything.

Pryor was huge in the 80s and into the early 90s. The only people that missed the boat on him were those born say 95ish or later or maybe the early 90s and were small children when Pryor was still pretty big.

In the 70's too when his stand up act was really hot. I guess that is what got him noticed and led to his movies.

The beginning of The Toy did a pretty good job predicting the future where he's riding his bike wearing headphones and is completely oblivious to everything and almost gets run over by a train. Just replace the Walkman with a smartphone.

Yeah, I think Hear no Evil, See no Evil is one of their weaker movies. It had some good scenes but the overall movie was kind of a mess. I think Stir Crazy and Silver Streak are probably their best movies together.

Yeah, if you are getting called out for your drug use in Hollywood in the 70's you know you've got a problem.
