Airline A has flights to my next destination that would get me there in time for my other connecting flights. Airline A refuses to give me tickets for free, I must pay for them (they're offering a 25% discount though, still several hundred dollars). Airline B has no obligation.

Airline B has no obligation. I agree completely. Usually I book with just one airline, but Airline B doesn't have flights to the remote location I was flying from. I paid the $500 with Airline A to get to my next destination on time, because otherwise I'd be even more out of money by missing my other connecting flights. But this seems like highway robbery. Airline A has just earned an extra $500 BECAUSE they caused me to miss a flight. --- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiCtAUrZbUk -- Defeating the Running Man of Ocarina of Time in a race since 01/17/2009. -- ...
