Currently playing 2 and while I think it's ok, it definitely isn't nearly as good as 1. Just wondering how 3 stacks up against both of them.

It's great. General consensus is that it's better than 2. Forget how it stacks up against 1 but it's generally held to be in a similar ballpark IIRC.

It's the worst of the 3 imo. But it's still a good game overall. The last big area, Pirate Homeworld, is pretty weak, so the game kind of loses its wonder torwards the end. The previous levels are great, though.

1 = 2 > 3.

3 is secretly the best and has the best boss theme in the series.

It's more streamlined, less exploration, and more action focus. Also features a story with characters and voice acting, and cutscenes.

it's cool and fun, it's the most different of the trilogy though so don't expect a "return" to MP1 type game

Well that's a relief. 2 just feels like it has zero flow to it which the first one did really well in. Also hate the beam weapons having ammo, just feels so unnecessary and makes me not want use them

The lack of a unifying hub bring the game down a lot for me. Still a great game.

2 gave me my first taste of Prime multiplayer tho so I am grateful

my dream full-fledged Metroid Prime Hunters 2 on a console will happen some day...

To this day that theme is one of like, three things I can clearly remember about MP3. Truly incredible.

I said general consensus. I like 2 a lot! Though it's been so long since I've played the trilogy I forget what my own personal ranking is. All 3 are very close for me.

I love all three games but I find 3 the weakest. Longer dialogue and as someone mentioned it loses steam as you progress towards the end imo. I'd rank them 2>1>3

I swear Nintendo is holding onto that announcement for a 6 month release before MP4 in order to boost hype even more. It's been ready for years and they are just sitting on it.

Think if they do it, it'll have an option for standard controller scheme? Not a fan of the pointer controls.

Edit: oh huh MP2 has a higher metacritic score than MP3. I've always gotten the impression from others that 3 was the preferred title of the two with most people not liking the ammo system or Dark World of 2.

I mean I don't know that metacritic actually means consensus, and those are things that people generally have a problem with about 2.

Still, people also have problems with 3 being the most un-Metroid of them all in a lot of ways. Pretty dumb setpieces and cutscenes. IIRC the worlds in MP3 don't even connect organically? They just all have isolated entrances and exits that you hop on your ship to fly to and from.

if they do, the real question is if they still support motion controls

although I'd still say yes since MP3 does use them in specific ways and they're not just gonna keep them for 3

I have very fond specific memories of 1 and 2, and can recall multiple set pieces, locations, and sequences from each game.

I barely remember much of anything from 3 at all.

I know that I enjoyed 3 as I played it, but it sure didn't leave any sort of impression. It was fine

to be fair the game is kinda more like Hunters than it is like the other Primes

not in insulting ways, but in a I really like expanding the universe lore of other intergalactic bounty hunters

and detached worlds / multiple individual planets
