The game has a built in reroller too. Basically your initial 10 summon you can choose to keep or reroll and it lets you do this up to a max of 30 times (and if you're not happy you can reset the account). So essentially if you start right now you would be starting with 3x 5* heroes and 2x 5* Artifacts. The rates on 5* Heroes are usually 1.25% and the rate on 5* Artifact are usually 1.75% (these are without rate ups) so this is a crazy generous start for them to give you.

It takes about 5-10 mins to get to the free 5* Heroes and Artifacts and about 25 mins to get to the first 10 summon which it lets you reroll.

I haven't played a lot of games similar to this but google says it is similar to Azur Lane, Dragalia Lost, Brave Exvius and Fate Grand Order (first 4 it lists)

Note that you can't get every 5* in these freebie summons. Only Water, Earth and Fire heroes and excluding limited. I'm only 3 weeks in but I think the limited summons under those elements are Baiken, Diene, Dizzy, Zeno, Sol, Luna

I play it a little. I started it with the Guilty Gear event cause hell yeah Guilty Gear.

It has good production values. The weekly event content is a bit repetitive and shallow, though I liked the Guilty Gear event stuff so sometimes it can be good I guess. Story is alright-- passable at least. I'd call the story much better than Exvius, but not as good as F/GO. Gameplay however is better than F/GO-- reminds me of FFX which is a good thing for me. Also despite being all original characters other than the Guilty Gear ones I actually like a lot of the characters in this which is more than I can say for Exvius or Fire Emblem Heroes or most mobile games. They put a good amount of character into em with the limited amount of screentime they give each one.

No desire to reroll though can't give up my Sol and Dizzy. Got Sez, Yufine, Iron Fan, and Celestine with my 5* stuff.

Well Dizzy is OP as shit, I am a little frustrated I started just after that event but I think my characters are pretty solid. I have Ken (Selected summon), Vildred (freebie 7 day login the other week), Tywin + Aramintha (both from today). Artifact wise I have Song of Stars, Elbris Ritual Sword, Celestine, Rhianna & Luciella.

I haven't rolled any 5* heroes from banners and I've spent all the bookmarks I've been given but have kept all skystones.

Oh I guess I should probably mention that for people starting. You can guarantee yourself limited release units as long as you save 121 summons for them which sounds a lot but really isn't that bad.

Sol is actually really strong too. He does a ton of damage that scales off max HP and his anti-buff thing is nice. But yeah Dizzy is definitely OP. My friend, who told me about the Guilty Gear thing, has been playing the game like 3x as long as me and I'm further in progression because of Dizzy. I mean he's also a bit more casual than I am with stuff like this so that's part of it but yeah.

My other 5*s have been Ravi, 2x Iseria, Aramintha, and Ken so I haven't exactly got a ton either. I also got a Charlotte I used as promotion fodder because I didn't see myself ever using her for anything and I didn't like the character. I actually drew 3 Dizzy though cause I wanted to max her soul merge thing so my luck hasn't been that bad or anything.

Been mostly going through the game with Sol Dizzy Clarissa (best character) and Rin as my healer. They're all 6* except Rin who I haven't upgraded cause I'm hoping to draw a better healer at some point.

I quit recently and deleted my account. I played since global launch with several accounts at the same time on emulator etc settling on one that had the best overall. The 4 accounts I chose were from launch when they had 1-4 rerolls and I multi-instanced new accounts to 1-4 to try to get a 5* on the freebies AND then a good 5* on 1-10.

I had several good units raised and geared. Talking 250 speed, 12K HP, 150% effectiveness Dizzy, 150% ER and 195 speed Carmin, ER built destina, 3K attack and 300% CD W.Shuri, SS imprinted Vildred. 100K CP Iseria, etc. Basically eveything on clear, borderline legend in pvp (easy champ 1/2 legend if I cared to push).

But it's like, despite having these insane heroes i still felt like Im being punished just because I dont have super amazingly rare ML5* heroes. To be fair, I did have ML Ara, but besides the first say couple of months or so I didnt really use her that much. As soon as I started to really jump into champ and legend level pvp I didnt even bring her on attack because every single team just counters her. It's like what am I supposed to do against Ruele, Maid, Carmin, and some sort of tanky dps? Even if I have a team that can win just based on better gear, do you know how long this takes? And meanwhile I'm at a huge disadvantage because I cant build as insane defenses. Or in something like tower where players who just have S.Tene or Dark Corvus have clear paths to victory, where I had to FULLY RAISE F.KLURI and C.LORINA to even have a real shot at it. That's like so much time and investment to raise heroes I didn't really want to touch.

I mean it's bad enough that I didn't pull an ML5 from outside of mystics (btw. I pulled normal sez TWICE from mystic instead of ML baal). But I still did some alts when I was just autoing on my main to get to 10-10 and pull a ML and kill it if it was not a 5*. Did over 200 pulls across all my accounts and I still haven't gotten one. And then I see people who have pulled multiples in about as many pulls that my global account did. One person HAS FOUR 5* MLs and I know she has done less pulls than me. Like I'm happy for her because she's a friend but it's also extremely soul-crushing for me. What's more... is that even with everything she has... she's still kind of over the game too.

I know from just browsing around and hearing from people who play the game that the freebies are basically smilegate knowing the game is kind of in a bad spot and that they've messed up quite a bit. Like the stamina issues, predominance of ML5*s in pvp, no safety nets for banners, gold problems, etc. It's just very hard to play the game without paying and if you do spend a little (and tbf. even if you have to spend, you only really have to drop a small amount of money), you have to be extremely lucky to really compete at the top levels. I know that a lot of people really dont care about that, but when you are basically walled off purely because of luck (I know someone who has spent THOUSANDS without an ML5* and he like just got ML Cecilia from mystics recently), it's just awful.

SG handled the whole community very poorly as well. Like I watched a lot of E7 twitch streams and there was a thing called "viewer summons" where you gave a streamer your account info and they would summon on your account for the stream. It was a cool community thing and all the streamers who did it were either well established or had enough friends in the community where you knew you could trust them. This went on for months and then because of infighting within the E7 Creators discord SG just banned viewer summons. If you are wondering, other gacha games allow it and just say that "we're not responsible if something bad happens" including Summoner's War, the game e7 is heavily based on. IMO this is pretty much when the game started to go downhill and the community started to become increasingly annoyed.
