Annoyed at all the various breaks in the game (I'm never going to finish the Dark Brotherhood) since I can't access the Console like on PC, but I was never going to make any progress on PC anyway. Had too many better games to distract me there.

Time to pick something else to play on my Switch. If anyone wants to look at my library, links are below to stuff I haven't beaten on Switch.

Despite having Skyrim on pc, ps3, and 360, I'm tempted to get it for the Switch for the convenient mobility... although I think I'll probably wait until there's a good sale, either for the physical or digital version.

It really irritates me how Bethesda always stops updating their games suddenly, leaving tons of common gamebreaking bugs. I could almost forgive releasing buggy games if they manage to iron out all the big ones eventually, but nope, why do that when the community will do it for you? Let alone until recently PS and Xbox consoles didn't have access to Console commands or mods.

How do you define "beat"? Main questline? Main questline + civil war? Main/civil war/all faction questlines? Getting every achievement? Does DLC count?

Yeah, there's more to lose from an online game crashing or breaking. I've actually been playing it and there's things called Workshops you can claim and defend from A.I and other players if they attack, they let you farm valuable materials but if you crash you lose ownership of it and can't really join back if you're not in a group of players.

They basically transplanted Skyrim Dragons with a certain enemy type but unlike Dragons their A.I isn't set to land after some time, so you could spend an entire fight with one without it landing which is quite painful if you're a melee build. I've also sat there waiting for enemies in an event quest to spawn, enemys spawning inside geometry/buildings forcing me to fast travel and come back which costs Caps btw.

Being an online game also inherently prevents community modders from creating effective patches, which is how most previous Bethesda games were made playable.

When Skyrim is a buggy mess and a week later four people come out with unofficial patches that fix 90% of the problems, most people are less likely to complain.

When Fallout 76 is a buggy mess but those same modders can't fix it at all due to anti-cheating blocks and server-side processing, you're left waiting for Bethesda to fix it, and Bethesda never fixes anything.

If anything, Fallout 76 is the direct result of their previous games. After years of having the community constantly fix all their mistakes, they developed a very lax attitude towards bugs, because they were never really a problem in the past when other people would fix them. But Fallout 76 was the first time they couldn't rely on that particular safety net, and they wound up crashing and burning because of it.

Story, all factions finished other than Dark Brotherhood, Civil War finished for Stormcloaks, both DLC stories finished, as many side quests done as I could find, like Daedric stuff.

Same here.

I want it but not for $60, mostly because I know that I'll only play it for like five hours and then forget about it like with the pc version. It'd definitely be good airplane fodder.

To add on to what I said about F76 glitches, I went to do an Event that typically requires 8+ people to successfully but it didn't give me the event quest, so I missed out on half the loot+ EXP.

I got it half price off, but I expected that myself. But my much smaller Switch library had me stick with it long enough to actually get somewhere and I just kept playing.

Ehh, for Skyrim, that basically IS kind of short.

When I played Skyrim on PS4 I played a different character for each faction questline. I'd mostly just do the intro and faction quests, along with an occasional short/easy side quest for XP or because it was convenient, and those runs usually wound up taking 50 hours apiece. That's 200 hours right there, minus overlapping quests, but also not counting the main quest, civil war, or DLC.

Meanwhile, the one character where I played through the main quest, the civil war, and the DLCs (to level up to 70 for an achievement), it took about 176 hours - and again, that's without any faction quests at all.

If I did a full completionist run, deliberately trying to complete every possible quest I could think of other than endless radiant ones, it could potentially take me something like 400 hours at that same pace.

That says she might fail to advance when you go back, but it doesn't say it's a permanent break or there's no way to fix it, so you should try to go back to her one last time and see if she's managed to un-bork herself in the meantime. She might work this time, and you can finish the Brotherhood as well.

If you go back now and she's still broken, then sure, she's probably broken for good.

I've tried multiple times spanning over 60+ hours of playing. She doesn't want to work. :(

Try to attack someone in the Brotherhood, get kicked out, then atone. See if she's still broken when you come back.

If so, it's probably hopeless.

Truthfully the only mod I want is one to make all named NPCs Protected so they can't die to dragons or the like unless scripted. They could still be killed by the player, but no one else.

Also console to fix glitches, but that isn't a mod.

Success, the next step finally triggered after she told me to go pay my fine. :D

Unfortunately, I'm playing handheld since my nephews are here, which is fucking terrible IMO (smaller screen, much darker). Guess I'm still not going anywhere for now.

Personally, I would go with "beat at least one major storyline arc you haven't before, and then keep continuing until you finally break the game with your incessant modding." And to do this at least twice (if one of the storylines is not the main questline, then at the very least watch it through via playthrough too).

But yeah. PC player. We have the necessary tools, such as fanmade patches for fixing all the bugs, to make it much better. Which, naturally, means we then do that, and then afterward just add a bunch of other interesting mods for changing werewolves or vampires to be more fun, messing with the skill system to be better, allowing us to see 20 different, much more impressive looking flowers springing from the meadows (sometimes even via multiple mods despite their creators explicitly saying that it shouldn't work, but hey it still does for some reason).

And of course, always commenting on that weirdness where, there are a handful of places in the game like looking at a stone wall near some waterfall by the first rune stone thing you are likely to encounter, where you can run the REST of the game at 60 FPS, but it drops to 2-3 FPS in that area as long as you stare at that wall for some reason, because even all the mods in the world cannot fix OR break that worse somehow.
