Super intelligence. After all, the extremes of both sides of the political spectrum have research associating them with low intelligence so the closer you are to center, the smarter you must be.

I'm mostly conservative, but smart enough to know better about some things. My family who is here right now from about an hour NE of SF in Cali is fully republican. Literally all of them, including my aunt who is from here in BC. I didn't ask them how they felt about their vaccine laws, but they certainly hated Hilary and Obamacare that was costing them $450/paycheque. I'd honestly be upset, too. I think I pay $40/m and could go in right now and say I need to see a doctor because I have a headache, and pay nothing.

I know, right? That's why I don't post stuff like this... well, that and I think it's particularly stupid trolling. It's low-hanging fruit on so many levels so I guess I can understand why somebody wouldn't be able to resist trying to annoy people with it.

The best part is when the follow-up link to the nearly decade-old alt-news piece that only includes inline links (a practice reserved for the sketchiest and most agenda-driven sites) is an opinion piece that sources that previously-mentioned article. Magnifique! That's some Erik-level shit.

It's worth noting that liberals also have a tendency towards anti-vaxx so the issue isn't exclusive to one side. And it's worth noting that *many* of the same far-leftists who criticize conservatives as being anti-science for rejecting climate change turn around and engage in the anti-scientific practice of criticizing GMOs and other naturalistic fallacies.

You don't know many people period. You went to a 200-student high school and -- last I heard -- are a stay-at-home dad to your pet dogs. As such, you're not going to encounter many people. However, I'm *pretty* sure you watch John Oliver so you shouldn't be unfamiliar with these issues:

Dude, most of that hate comes from YOU. And I'm not nearly as disliked as you frequently try to claim. More saliently, a lot of the dislike I do get originates BECAUSE I express my views, not because I shy away from them. And since I unabashedly express strong opinions on subjects where somebody or another disagrees equally strongly, that's largely irreconcilable. But sure, pretend that I don't share my views. It's hardly the most brazen lie you've attempted to push.

Well yeah.

Economic Conservatives are either rich smart people trying to get out of paying their taxes or dimmer poor people tricked into fending off their own welfare.

Socially "Conservative" people are basically the dumbest of the dumb people blaming their problems on other demographics because that's the easiest thing for their tribal brains to understand.

No wait, gays have been evil this whole time?! No, come on, you'd have to be stuck with the mind of a 13 year old to believe that.

Proof is in the comments of that article. I have no idea how they survive in life tbh.

I have no doubt there are dumb liberals, because I know many, but Socially Conservative people have to be pretty consistently dumb. I wouldn't group people against specifically Mexican immigration for the sole reason of competing for low paying jobs with them, to be fair. I just have a hard time imagining a large group of poor people going to one specific area ending any other way. Any other anti-Mexican immigrant agenda like diseases or drugs is proven bullshit.

There are a couple of studies out there saying Republicans have slightly higher IQs on average, but after you take into account the different demographics Democrats have a slight edge by one or two points.

Centrists are like a consistent 10 IQ points lower in every study. Lmao.

There seems to be a strong correlation between people who desperately want to believe this and a susceptibility to questionable articles, including a "science" website that casts doubt on GMOs:

https://www.livescience.com/25799-frankenfish-salmon-gmo.html

The site, which apparently does no original research of its own and uses the denigrating term "frankenfish," cherrypicked a HuffPo article -- itself an alt-news site -- that tacitly pushed the opinions of several anti-GMO organizations and used scare graphics. Granted, the HuffPo piece is far more balanced than the Live "Science" story which, among other things, brings up the call to label GMO products (a tactic used to discourage the purchase of GMO products).

I'll also say that the story is notable for being the *only* one I've seen so far on the site with links that don't solely reference its own content.

https://www.livescience.com/51917-gmo-herbicides-health.html

Then we have a scare article about herbicides used on GMOs which very conveniently overlooks that "organic" products also use herbicides, often in greater volume. Granted, there's a brief criticism -- and by "brief" I mean one whole paragraph -- of the claims in there for balance, which also notes that one of the people is paid by a group that promotes anti-GMO agendas.

And I'm not going to get into discussing the typos in the article.

Anti-vax stupidity does seem to extend to both the left and the right, in various pockets.

The GMO thing is a fucking pathetic argument, though. Oh, gosh! Those crazy liberals want to label what foods are genetically modified! How awful! That would have the same exact effect on consumer behavior that labeling stuff as organic currently does: the average person looks at both, sees the "franken-food" costs half the price of the "pure" food, and goes w/ the former.

Way more destructive is the Republican war on science in areas such as climate change, funding for research on solar and wind energy, and most recently, this:
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/05/us/politics/fetal-tissue-research.html

Lawrence O. Gostin, a professor specializing in public health law at Georgetown University, said the new restrictions would devastate crucial medical research.

It will affect everything from cures for cancer and H.I.V. through to Parkinsons and dementia, Mr. Gostin said. The ban on fetal tissue research is akin to a ban on hope for millions of Americans suffering from life-threatening and debilitating diseases. It will also severely impact the National Institutes of Health, universities and other researchers, who will lose key funding for their laboratories and their vital work.

But yeah, throw a fit over people wanting a label added to food.

Unless you fail at life or specifically profit from government (be it contracts, employment, or welfare), libertarianism and economic conservatism are going to work best for you. The average voter has been tricked into paying excessive taxes to support systems that frequently work to his detriment.

Which is the same kind of demographic blaming that happens on the left, but you're curiously not to talk about it whether it's arguments for reparations, claims that people are poor because CEOs make too much, blaming cops for everything under the sun, etc.

Overlooking that illegal labor also helps to repress wage growth, displaced workers affect *all* taxpaying Americans. If restaurants in the area are hiring illegals to keep up with their competitors and fewer Americans are being hired as a result, the welfare costs associated with those unemployed workers are passed along to taxpayers.

As for issues like trafficking and drugs, an insecure border is going to carry those issues... and we know it carries those issues because the US has collaborated in running guns across the border in the past.

Nice links to studies. I'm guessing those are the sketchy ones that Terris showed you that argue that people on the political extremes tend to have a higher IQ than people not on the extremes, a claim discounted by other links -- which were also sketchy -- that Terris had provided that same week. And people on those extremes aren't even particularly any more informed than the general public, since they just parrot their side's respective talking points.

What nonsense. This article contradicts itself.

People who give in to racism and prejudice may simply be dumb, according to a new study

the researchers aren't implying that all liberals are brilliant and all conservatives stupid. The research is a study of averages over large groups, he said.

"There are multiple examples of very bright conservatives and not-so-bright liberals, and many examples of very principled conservatives and very intolerant liberals," Hodson said.

Some of the highest IQ people like Christopher Langan and Bobby Fischer would put in this corner. In my country they always try during the political campaign to put the right wing in the corner of the low IQ hill billy's/chavs. This just sound as a bunch of propaganda.
