The soundtrack is great. The characters are great. Any other game would have them come across as grating, but I like Bayonetta a whole lot. I don't usually like or play this genre since I just like to mash buttons but here it's like I'm doing a different move every time and don't know how to repeat it, from Bayonetta shooting a gun attached to her leg to swinging around an axepole and destroying everything nearby.

Still not sure how I activate some of the mechanics besides the witching hour, which I know is unlocking by dodging at the last second. Not sure about anything else, like how you summon that hair demon that's simultaneously Bayonetta's clothes or how I shove demons inside a torture chamber.

That soundtrack. I don't even know what the song is saying in the beginning, it sounds like a lot of mumbling but it's so good.

How many chapters this game will have? Also it doesn't seem like I'll have enough money to purchase stuff at the shop unless I keep doing the same level over and over to get coin.

bayonetta 2 is even better in just about every way

also, if you're playing on easy, i'm pretty sure it activates automatic mode, so you do combos automatically from only pressing one button.

My favorite part of the game is the introduction to the Joy enemy and everything involving it. It's so gratuitous that I couldn't help but laugh.

Fun fact: most of the enemy designs are based on actual descriptions from historical text. It's the most accurate depiction of many of these creatures in all of media.

Oh yeah definitely, I only play video games for fun. Can't wait to play Bayonetta 2 either. This is the weirdest exclusive 3rd party title nintendo has gotten in terms of maturity content and style but boy am I excited for it.

I'm trying to learn how to perform dodge offset right now. The in-game tutorial didn't cover it and Switch games don't have software manuals

Me too. I'm honestly waiting for a Bayonetta 3 release date announcement and then I'll be super hyped to play through 2 all the way . I started 2 on Wii U after I beat Bayonetta 1 and then just stopped playing it a few chapters in. For some reason, I just felt like the first one captured my attention more, but I should go through it the whole way because everyone says the sequel is better.

IIRC the basic gist is to hold down your attack while you dodge and you can resume your combo.

It's not really needed and is an advanced technique. A good way to slap enemies with a wicked weave right after a dodge.

Wicked weave... you mean when Bayo's hairsuit turns into a fist and punches enemies through a portal? Because sometimes that happens but I honestly don't know what combination of buttons I mashed to perform it.

Yep! Punch -> Kick -> Punch is a reliable and easy one to remember. I think it works for all weapons.

I suspected. I kind of do that automatically, alternate between buttons and then press the shoot button for good measure before restarting the button press.

What about those purple bars at the top? Whenever I have them the game lets me do a torture attack where I press x and a then megaton where I shove an enemy into a torture chamber. But not sure what they are.

Yeah learning the PKP combo is a good way to really grasp your head around the combat. You can actually hold each button down for extra damage to it's like Punch->Shoot->Kick->Shoot->Wicked Weave->Shoot. It's good to do this sorta stuff for the bigger enemies.

From there you can naturally start shooting mid combo when it feels right and the slower pace makes it easier to remember which combos work for you.

The purple bar is your magic meter yes. You can buy some accessories that use it for other stuff than the Torture Attacks. But that's more of a second playthrough thing IIRC.

Nice, so does that mean there's a new game plus where I get to keep my money? I've noticed that I probably definitely won't have enough money to buy everything in the store, but would be willing to replay the game if it means I can purchase everything just for the collector in me.

Oh cool maybe if I get a chance to. Since it's the nintendo switch version I apparently can switch bayonetta's costume for a princess peach theme one so might try it in chapter 1 and 2 just to see the gameplay difference for funsies.

It's fantastic. 1 is kindra drab in its color scheme/ locals, but 2 has some more colorful environments.

The only bad part is like 2 QTE moments whem you're going for a platinum rank on everything

The weapons are just as over the top; Nun-chucks that can shoot bullets, ice skates that can freeze the enemy, bazookas that you strap to your shoes, and my favourite, a glowing pink snake that serves as a whip.

Press pause on the loading screen, it then holds you in there where you can train. Otherwise, you can access it through the Techniques section of Rodan's shop.
