I have a Dot in my living room but I was looking to buy an Input for my bedroom just to receive commands; turn on/off lights, thermometer, etc from my bedroom. Does the Echo Input work for this purpose or does it always need to be paired with a speaker? I don't need a speaker function, I just want something to receive inputs and execute Alexa commands. Thanks.

You're way better off just spending a bit more and getting another Dot
