It's a pretty game, but I didn't enjoy it after I finished. Loved the new world and lore, but the gameplay and story left much to be desired. Didn't care at all for breaking weapons.

The shrines are a huge let-down and just boring. No mention of them before and then suddenly, bam! Hyrule is filled with ancient shrines and they're all tied to a magic tablet. Lol.

It's too damn short, the world for its size is pretty empty, load times are a bit long considering how often you need to tele, the gear degrade system is annoying, and stamina is a pain until you get a lot of upgrades at which point it starts to feel stupidly OP.

Plus there are only *four* real dungeons and Hyrule Castle.

Well, it's unsurprising that they weren't mentioned. After all, they were pretty underground before now. >_>

I hated the breaking weapons. Worst feature in the game in my opinion. People can defend it all they want by saying "it forces you to not use the same weapon and strategy all game!"

Dumbest argument for it I ever heard. If I search hell and high water for a great weapon just for it to break at the worst possible moment; that's bad game design

Motion controls are hard on this. Almost like the game fights you.

That being said, I'm glad I bought it. Not my favorite Zelda game of all time (or even top 3) but it is a good game

I've played other Zelda games before but BotW wasn't really my cup of tea.
I don't really like open world games though.
Mostly because I don't have the time and energy to put in dozen upon dozen of hours into one single game.

the previous zeldas don't even compare
the last one I enjoyed was wind waker but it took til the re-release to get the normal difficulty back...

I hope they change nothing for BtoW 2.0
I'd quit my real life just to experience BtoW for the first time again

I agree. The shrines were a different approach, one we have never had before. It is nice you can pick and choose which ones you want to try and what order after getting the appropriate skills and gear. There isn't the typical1-2-3-4-5. You can do 2-1-4-3-5 or whatever you want.

The map was unique, but every zelda game has a unique map. We should appreciate that because (God forbid) if they ever decide to shrink it or find some way to take away the exploration concept from us like recent Final Fantasy games

Yeah its dumb because the zelda games have always totally changed up the world of hyrule around new gameplay mechanics

Like all those islands in windwaker, there were never that many mountains in hyrule

Yep. It's a dumb complaint. The world is constantly changing. Mostly to fit whatever they need in the game. Like what Mead said about WW. Also, I think green_dragon mentioned how they said it took place like 10,000 years in the future of Hyrule. That's more than enough time to build 120 or so shrines and a bunch of towers. Even if they weren't mentioned, I don't think the guardians, towers, or DBs were mentioned, either. Also, I don't think it's connected to one magic tablet, is it? Aren't they connected to like all the tablets or something. I can't remember. But I thought they were. If not, he is the hero. He can do things others can't. Like being able to pull the Master Sword out without dying... Just normal video game stuff. And normal Zelda game stuff, as well...

Glad Im not alone..!

I find the universal praise for it quite surprising.. It tried way hard to be a Elder Scrolls/Zelda hybrid that I just couldnt find it that interesting. Thought the open world was dead and boring.

I wouldnt mind so much if theyd had proper Zelda dungeons, items and bosses to go with the open world. Hated the Divine Beasts.

Definitely my least favourite Zelda.
