This is a topic to rate the contest strength of potential newcomers in the current contest environment.

I will pick the characters to rate and discuss for each day from user nominations - whoever the 3 most nominated characters are at that time. If there are more than 3 I will pick randomly. You can nominate any number of characters at any time, but you cannot nominate the same character twice.

All characters who were present in the 2018 Character Battle will NOT be eligible. Otherwise you can nominate any character that has appeared in video games; even comic book characters. This will exclude real-life athletes who have only appeared in long running sports series, however I will accept those who have their own games such as Shaq. I will accept nominations for iconic gaming duos too, if both members of said duo are named in the title of a game (Banjo-Kazooie, Sam & Max Hit the Road, etc).

Each day will have a separate topic, and nominations will carry over. As far as actually rating the character's contest strength; I ask that users rank a characters potential strength with one of the following qualifiers - Low Fodder, Mid Fodder, High Fodder, Fodder Line, Low Midcarder, Midcarder, High Midcarder, Near Elite, Elite, LAW Tier (capable of beating Link). I will average all the ratings given to a character to come up with their final ranking. I have included a highlighted entrant from Character Battle X on each tier of the strength rankings below, to provide a baseline for each.

Ladies love Wolf O'Donnell. Does that equate to contest strength? Yes. Wait, it doesn't? Shit. Uh, high fodder. He's back in Smash but is a lesser nintendo character and a villain at that. However, he's strongly associated with the Star Fox brand so he's not completely worthless. The only reading we had on him was an SFF match where he got destroyed by Fox. Ladies might love Wolf O'Donnell but Allen sure doesn't.

Bart probably carries enough love to be a low midcarder but people seem more and more lukewarm on the Simpsons as time goes on. Every YouTuber likes to shit on the Simpsons and ask "wha happun" and I feel like Fox and now Disney don't particularly care to do anything new with the brand. I think Bart would be stronger than Homer but it'd be tough to call unless we saw them actually in a contest.

Darkseid would be mid fodder at best, literally nobody cares about Darkseid anymore, he's underutilized and now more people care more about Thanos who was originally a Darkseid knockoff. I have a friend with like 3 Darkseid shirts and has two copies of Darkseid's first appearance and he decided he wanted to sell them recently because he just feels Darkseid is done. It's a shame the DC movies didn't do anything with him.

Wolf I would say high fodder, barely out of fodder line. Wouldn't be taking him over the majority of established fodder line but smash boost and being Nintendo helps immensely.

Darkseid, I'm going low fodder for one simple reason, lol non-Batman DC.

Bart is the hardest one to call here. I'll play it safe and go low midcarder but the biggest question is whether or not he would be stronger than Homer Simpson.

Wolf - High fodder. After Aerith > Fox I'm gonna need a very good reason before trusting Star Fox characters.
Darkseid - Low fodder. At least Lex Luthor steals cakes and yells WRONG at people. What does Darkseid have going for him?
Bart Simpson - Fodder Line. With how old people are getting I'd guess the typical gamefaqs user probably relates more to Homer at this point.

I agree with Axem about all three. Darkseid could have had some semblance of strength ten years ago, though.

I'm rejecting this nomination because it's not really a separate character. If there was a canon name for the form (ie Sheik) I could accept it.

Agree with High Fodder for Wolf. I will say Bart is Fodder Line - I'm not sure if any Simpsons characters besides Homer will be able to beat the fodder line.

For Darkseid I will go against the grain and say High Fodder. He is still one of the most iconic DC villains, despite his lack of relevance today. He was originally planned to be the villain in Justice League, and he was in Injustice 2. And I'm sure some of Gfaqs have nostalgia for Darkseid's story arcs in the 90s Superman series and Justice League animated.
