Neat thing I learned recently

So basically, they were originally signed to produce like 50 episodes. One of the 3 creators (not clasky or csupo) ended up leaving the show after finishing that original run. They played reruns of those ones for years, then finally had new episodes for a year or two before the movie. Those ones also were pretty lacking, all things considered. They basically were out of ideas and it might have had to do with losing one of the biggest contributors to the original success of the show.

So yeah, them adding Dil was an attempt to address the lack of direction in the formula.

never really watched it much myself but i hear that they sadly had no idea what to do with kimmie in all grown up so she is there but doesnt do much
