Thats 3.75 liters of the stuff going out the door. I've never sold one before after seeing them sit on our shelves in the liquor store for over a year untouched.
I don't even know why we have this product in my liquor store, since my boss is kinda like a stickler for good whiskey. Not that we don't have cheap options out there but this is a product nobody needs to consume. The label, oddly enough, spells out exactly what you are getting. That's....rare. the Kasser Laird distilling co., can do something right: advertise why I should avoid their product when they legally don't have to as far as i am aware. "The straight whiskies in this product are four years or more old...." Calling them straight, specifically, whiskies is misleading and not. The whiskey portion of this product is literally 100% whiskey. The rest? In a rare move, Laird-Kasser tells us the literal breakdown: "twenty-percent straight whiskies, eighty percent grain neutral spirits" Thats my favorite word. Grain Neutral. Is it so much to ask, that we all at least drink real whisky. I don't care if its good, necessarily. This Four Queens shit is 9.99/750. Old crow is the same price but it isn't cut with generic spirit. That stuff probably sucks, and is also racist because the label celebrates a Dr. James Crow.(just kidding, he's the guy 200 years ago who originally began creating this bottom shelf swill and in no way related to a minstrel performer and or a set of laws), but its real! As far as I am aware. Bottled at a "quirky" 50 1/2% abv. Ive seen these on the shelf, amazed. I've never sold one before in over a year. A woman comes in and purchases two. A man comes in thirty minutes later and buys another two. The next day a man came in and bought one. I've never sold one before until this. I've heard a story about people east of here this stuff is used to make a home made liquor called "boilo". I don't know what this is but it makes me wonder why this brand specifically? Also, i'm pretty sure the bottles in my store state an age of 3 years or more, not 4, but the breakdown is still 80/20. My advice? Don't buy this shit. Nobody needs to consume whisky cut with generic spirit. Terms such as, on this bottle "whisky a blend", or "natural flavors added" might be able to show you which ones to avoid. There's even vodkas cut with grain neutral spirits! when will it end! I badmouth the Kasser-Laird distilling Co., of Scobeyville NJ but a guy did pay me with some silver half dollars buying Laird, one of our cheapest offerings. I can't hate em too much. ... What is "boilo?" it is a delicacy from the other side of Pennsylvania from where I live, made from a bunch of herbs and spices and of course, four queens.
